Additional DetailsInEight offers a modular, integrated project controls platform. Because the InEight platform covers the entire construction lifecycle, customers purchase the software based on their specific needs – purchasing stand-alone products, a bundle of products, or the entire platform. As a result, the pricing will vary depending on the specific product, number of users and length of contract. Once InEight has identified the highest impact areas, they offer potential customers a custom proposal. The options they consider include: Per user pricing: typically annual subscriptions. Revenue-based: using a percentage of the customer’s revenue. Project-based: software use dedicated to a specific project or program of work.—

Considered Both Products
InEight
Chose InEight
InEight is cheaper than both. It is more functional than Aconex, but not iTWO. InEight's GUI needs the most work to improve.
Chose InEight
I would prefer Aconex but the cost is too high. The overall layout and feel of Aconex are modern compared to InEight.
Chose InEight
As an issuing tool, InEight's TeamBinder is on par with Aconex. SOLIDWORKS EPDM creation of review workflows and revision numbering is better placed with handling multiple versions of the same document with the ability to revert to older versions if required. InEight's support …
Chose InEight
  1. Allows you to save all file types to a document, easily identify which formats you do and don’t have and manage which formats you issue.
  2. Great bulk functionality. Manage multiple projects and large volume of documentation easily with less staff.
Chose InEight
InEight has superior functionality over all of these systems.
Oracle Aconex
Chose Oracle Aconex
Aconex's document control workflow allows for multiple versions of the same revision, enabling markups to be seen and document history as appropriate. This is on par with SOLIDWORKS EPDM, and is by far better than InEight's TeamBinder, as the originator and uploader of the …

InEight
Compared to other Estimating software I have used, InEight has superior capabilities and features. The ability to use a line item or an assembly to create an estimate is an outstanding feature of the program. The ability to create crew rates and use them in the estimate is a handy feature, especially when estimating construction projects.

Oracle
For outstanding project managing and operational assistance, Oracle Aconex is an incredible program. The budget that suits every project are met and followed. More so, Oracle Aconex takes the permits required, for instance, the insurance permit and the license tracking. The contractor management feature is also encoded on Oracle Aconex, making the investor and the contractor have the same objective.

Cons
InEight
  • Provide a simpler version (cliff notes) of the knowledge database
  • Offer versions of InEight for smaller companies, i.e. less than 20 emplyees, under $5M in revenue
  • When an estimate is complete, offer a dialog box to ask if the job was won, lost, or still in progress. We tend to leave most of our estimates in the bidding column. This is a user error, but the prompt would be helpful.

Some features with InEight's TeamBinder are worthy of single use, however the review feature and subsequent revision and version numbering could be improved. We will be aiming to roll out the package to encompass our internal documentation in the near future and will be in a better position to judge the usability after that point in time.

Usability
InEight
I would give it an 8 out of 10 because the software can be a bit cumbersome to new users. It also takes a long time to set up the library and input all of your companies needs so that the software will provide the level of service required to estimate projects. However, once the software is set up it is a powerful tool. We only use a portion of what the software is capable of delivering

Support Rating
InEight
Ineight is pretty good at support although we often do not get support right away as the technicians are busy with other customers. We will get a callback when a technician becomes available. We have never had an issue that was not solved to our satisfaction, mostly in a fairly timely manner.

Implementation Rating
InEight
Since the original inception, I have been required to overhaul the system so that it is more user friendly and combines both aspects of our business, documentation and drawings. Being able to control revision and version numbering has been a key struggle that only staff training has been able to mark this as complete.

Alternatives Considered
InEight
InEight is more robust than the other services I have used. I think it does a better job of rolling up a massive amount of individual user data into one complete project progress report. I like that most of our clients also use it, which makes collaboration easier. I think it is less intuitive than RedTeam, less expensive than Procore, and more visually appealing than Bluebeam Revu.

I am currently using file sharing such as Egnyte and ShareFile which are useful but don't have much of a transmittal or inmail functionality so I can't really speak to other products in the same league as Aconex. I don't typically like proprietary contractor solutions due to their non-neutrality and embedded agendas, which often are not consistent with the owner's interests.

Scalability
InEight
InEight is a good system that has scaled nicely as the company has grown. the tools are still readily available and applicable for our larger scope of work. It has kept up with the growth of the company very nicely
