Overall Satisfaction with InEight

We use it for Estimating.

Pros

  • Preparing an estimated budget.
  • Historical record/data.
  • Benchmarking
  • Comparison of estimates.

Cons

  • Simplified interface with Excel or any other applications.
  • Flexibility in making "User Designed" reporting.
  • Global conversion of a unit of measure from English to Metric or vice versa.
  • More transparent estimating data elements - good for review.
  • There are many different ways to present the estimate - summaries, details, etc.
  • Estimators that are beginners on the job may have a longer learning curve using the program.
Our business involves much-estimating work for projects, budget preparations, budget presentations, and benchmarking. The reporting capabilities are very good at standardizing the presentation of cost data, cost tables, etc. The dashboard communicating the estimate/budget makes it easy for management to analyze, compare, etc.
Our management process in approving budgets before a project is even approved for implementation requires a detailed analysis of all project activities costs, required materials/equipment, subcontracts, etc. The versatile reporting options eliminate a lot of data manipulations (manually), which take a lot of time to prepare. So much time is saved from doing manual work in preparing data, which is, instead, used in doing so much more analysis work.
The software's capability to interface with other management systems is a welcome and outstanding feature. Its different applications, not just for estimating, provide flexibility in other management processes, such as financial analysis, budget analysis, collections of actual/historical data on the projects, etc. The system can be used as a "one-stop" tool in project management.
We are new to the use of the system, and so far, we have not reached out for any support. The only support we have requested so far is the development of a training program that involves other staff - some are to learn the use of the program, and some are for informational purposes in understanding the capabilities of InEight.
Both Sage Estimating and InEight programs have their unique capabilities. Sage Estimating is much more configured for use in detailed construction, the majority of which are for non-nuclear projects. InEight has so many more capabilities, especially in creating our own libraries of data, which are vital in creating an estimate. The ability to access historical data (pricing), is an outstanding feature of the program.

Do you think InEight delivers good value for the price?

Yes

Are you happy with InEight's feature set?

Yes

Did InEight live up to sales and marketing promises?

Yes

Did implementation of InEight go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy InEight again?

Yes

Compared to other Estimating software I have used, InEight has superior capabilities and features. The ability to use a line item or an assembly to create an estimate is an outstanding feature of the program. The ability to create crew rates and use them in the estimate is a handy feature, especially when estimating construction projects.
