ManageEngine Endpoint Central vs. Nagios XI

For small businesses, it is also free, which, for what it offers, is really helpful. It works better than similar products, such as SCCM, both within and outside the internal network. I do not see scenarios in which it could be less appropriate.

If anyone looking for the monitoring system for the infrastructure this is the go-to tool which monitors all infrastructure related components from server health to Networking and update us with mails and can be easily integrated with multiple other tools as needed for example PagerDuty , Also this suits good both on premises and cloud environments as well. If we are managing complex environment this tool for monitoring is best one.

• We set alerts when a devices gets low on disk space. That is automatic and creates a ticket in ME SDP. We are then able to Add space to a VM Desktop, and then go thru ManageEngine Endpoint Central to extend the drives so the entire process can be done without interruption to the end user.
• Using the patch scans we can easily see what patches have been installed for all manufacturers not just Microsoft, without having to physically go to the device. It also allows us to choose which patches we want to push out and automate the process so we can be hands off, freeing up out time for other things.
• Remote access to devices. This allows us to remotely make changes, not just via remote control but also make registry changes and clean up space without going to the device and without interruption to the end user.
• Alerts. We have set up to get email alerts when new hardware is plugged into any computers. This lets us know if someone is bringing in un-authorized equipment (thumb drives, hubs, etc) to better manage what is/is not on our network.

• Prioritizing the flow between package deployments and updates. In my case, application packages must take priority over updates.
• Reconnecting the remote control port after restarting the computer.
• In dynamic groups, the first parameter is always "OR", which can cause problems when selecting the remote desktop.

• Robust, but visually old interface. Requires a lot of work to become presentable.
• Small selection of dashlets to construct new views.
• No MS Azure monitoring ability, nothing for “as service,” very limited Amazon cloud monitoring abilities.
• Questionable price politics (could make it a lot less for developing markets to actually increase use of the product and R&D budgets).
• No report designers nor the ability to create new reports. No changes in this area for years.
• Overall lack of new developments, making this product more and more outdated.

ManageEngine is considered an excellent product due to its comprehensive suite of solutions for IT management, with ManageEngine Endpoint Central specifically excelling in endpoint management. The platform stands out for its user-friendly interface, robust features, and versatility in addressing diverse IT needs. This tool has been has been of great use and learning , offering exceptional ease of use, scalability, and detailed reporting. It has a lot of customization options and proactive monitoring which have significantly improved our infrastructure management.It's UI & functions are good. Also has built in templates for various end points.It also provides graphical reports. With a Dashboard you can monitor easily

Not using WNS to communicate with the endpoint console is a big plus. We now use Workspace One, and WNS can be really annoying at times. After deployment, it cleans itself, which is important for us because our current solution leaves the package on the computer and requires maintenance. The remotely script command is a lifesaver.

We
are using Nagios XI in our organization primarily for monitoring all our
application servers and databases, this is helping us in addressing all the
infrastructure issues in advance by alerting us when it any server hits the
threshold as per the initial parameter setup also it has free tier which helps for small scale applications monitoring to save some expenses.

Performance wise it does its best job we monitor more than 500 Servers and we use this tool for Analysis also so never felt any lag

The immediate chat support is great and very helpful. However, if you need escalated support or have a deeper need that the chat tool can't help with, you will experience significant wait times and slow responses. The time zone difference becomes painful to the point of often just giving up.

Nagios XI support has plans to offer the following features:

It seems that the services offered with the purchase change from what is covered to what is an additional cost. Somethings I thought we had ended up requiring an additional purchase if we wanted to continue using the feature.

I was not a part of the initial selection process, but I understand the issue was related to cost per endpoint. As a user of the other solutions I would say that the other solutions do have other strengths that ManageEngine is missing. The remote access tools are superior but at the end of the day you get what you pay for.

Cost efficiency is the main reason which we opted [for] Nagios as we were previously using IDERA tool with comprehensive database monitoring solutions, but the slow performance we are getting while monitoring the instance of the database.

We have installed Nagios XI for our monitoring system and with this we are managing around 600 servers in total and not seen any major issues with its scalability we can scale it as much as we require and also installed on various applications servers and working as expected

• It had a positive impact on our environment, now we need less workforce to deploy patches and install softwares
• It also does the mitigation part so there we save the cost too
• It helps in achieving compliance which is net positive to get more projects
