Oracle E-Business Suite
Chose Oracle E-Business Suite
Oracle eBusiness Suite is an early generation ERP system that we decided to use years ago when the cloud was not even available. EBS was evaluated then against other ERP systems. Over the years, EBS has delivered some value to our business operations.
Chose Oracle E-Business Suite
Oracle ERP Cloud is the direction that a lot of companies are heading. Oracle and most other big software companies are pushing everyone to move to the cloud. This is essentially Oracle's cloud counterpart to their on-premise eBusiness Suite. The ERP Cloud product is still in …
Chose Oracle E-Business Suite
We explored Coupa, SAP, PeopleSoft, Salesforce. We chose Oracle based on value for money, features it offers and the easy availability of vast talent pool in the market. There are many trained Oracle product specialists readily available in the market. This helps us to tap …
Chose Oracle E-Business Suite
NetSuite is suitable if you only need a simple Financial & SCM application. The license investment is also not as big as Oracle EBS. You also get transactional business intelligence, embedded within the product.

You might also want to consider SAP, if you see it is better to …
Chose Oracle E-Business Suite
PeopleSoft and SAP HR are the closest alternatives that can be considered for Oracle EBS. But Oracle EBS became the final choice purely because of the fact that Oracle offers the flexibility of having a single vendor and application to take care of each aspect of business and …
Oracle Fusion Cloud ERP
Chose Oracle Fusion Cloud ERP
Oracle Cloud ERP is very much ahead of Oracle EBS in two main areas: User Experience and Updates. The user experience is much more modern and familiar to our user base. The forms based setup of EBS is not nearly as intuitive to those users and causes frustration on a regular …
Chose Oracle Fusion Cloud ERP
I see Oracle ERP Cloud as the next generation of the Oracle E-Business Suite. I'm sure the EBS will be supported for years to come, but I believe Oracle (like most other companies) recognizes that the cloud is the future. Oracle EBS has been around for many years and has had …
Chose Oracle Fusion Cloud ERP
Features of Oracle ERP and additional services were a much better fit for our use case.
Chose Oracle Fusion Cloud ERP
Oracle's eBusiness Suite has been around for a very long time and as such is a much more mature product than Oracle's ERP Cloud. But the ERP Cloud has a lot of potential, especially since that is where Oracle's focus will be for on-going development efforts. I expect it will …

Oracle eBusiness Suite is the best combination of CRM and ERP. Oracle helps us in managing the entire process of Sales and Marketing. The best feature is that it is highly user-friendly. We can easily manage the entire process of marketing from running a campaign to managing it and getting an interesting prospect than making a lead to making an opportunity by recording each and every conversation from day 1 to last day so that customer feels its valued by the company after that finally getting a business from the prospect.

We are a publicly-traded healthcare company with over 50000 full-time and part-time employees. We also currently have about 15000 contingent workers in our workforce. Oracle Cloud ERP is very well suited for an enterprise our size. Our financial department relies heavily on Oracle cloud ERP for daily business functions like procurement, supply chain, accounts reconciliation, ledgers, payables, receivables, and supply chain logistics. The executive team uses this system for project management and our risk assessment and management department for Compliance, risk management portfolio.

Cons
Oracle
  • Because the application is working globally, it sometimes hangs and the connection is dropped.
  • It should have more shortcuts to make it easier to develop macros. I create many macros and use the "sendkeys" command in VBA, due to the lack of these shortcuts, it is not possible to automate the process.
  • For now I can not think of other areas that require improvement.

After almost 5 years, we have a full control of this ERP System. We are able to implement new functionalities and modules without any major "consulting" expenses. As of today we are making almost 90% of the personalization/customization and implementation all in house. Once [it] is tuned, [it] keeps running very well with no major issues.

Oracle ERP cloud is a significant investment for our company. It will be an ongoing software cost and there's no looking back on that. Our users have become very accustomed to this tool that it is not practically feasible to rip them off from this system. So yes we will continue to renew the subscription going forward.

Usability
Oracle
The various forms - like order entry forms that allow the uses to enter sales orders and the ability to personalize the views based on end user needs - are easy to use and follow standard business processes. The new release has a big focus on usability and forms now have a familiar web look and feel which has increased usability considerably.

Reliability and Availability
Oracle
Because of the transactional nature of the system this software is available 24 X 7, and IT is responsible for making sure the system is available during normal business hours.

The application is used by big banks like HSBC is a testament to its reliability. I did not hear or experience any outages.Oracle is in the hosting business since long. In its previous avatar, it used to be called as Oracle on demand. So oracle has enough experience and expertise in hosting and managing customers applications in their datacenters. Oracle is the only major company which has platform as a service, database as a service and software as a service product offerings on the cloud.Hence customers can rely on Oracle as many major fortune 500 companies do.

Performance
Oracle
The performance of the product is very good. Given the transactional nature of the system one of the key focus areas for IT is to make sure performance is not affected for internal reasons. This can also depend on the server configuration and setup. For example, performance on Exadata machine is far superior to other Linux custom systems that companies choose to deploy. In general though, as already pointed out, the platform is now very stable and has few bugs. Whenever there are any issues, the cause is usually customizations that we have made to the platform, rather than out-of-the-box standard functionality.

Cloud performance is something that they need to improve. Also it is not consistent. Sometimes for some users it is slow while for others it is fast. This is frustrating for users especially when they are in the middle of what they are doing. We communicated this to Oracle and they suggested to submit request for environment re-sizing. But again this we think should be a proactive effort from Oracle rather than relying on customers to reach out. This is something Oracle definitely needs to work on.

Support Rating
Oracle
In general, support has not been great - particularly standard (non premium) support . The main issue is that our IT staff has been using this platform for years and is very knowledgeable Whenever something goes wrong, we usually have a very precise idea of what the problem is. We are skilled at problem diagnosis. But the Oracle support process is very rigid and slow. Typically, we are required to go through a lengthy diagnosis process where they ask us multiple questions sometimes over several days and we are obliged to talk to different people with differing levels of knowledge. Since we already know what the problem is, we really just want a patch or a bug fix, but it takes days to get there instead of minutes. This can be very frustrating. This is a big part of the reason why we pay for premium support. But it's still a bit disappointing.

Support is always providing step by step details to resolve any issue we encounter. If the issue is currently not a functionality or feature of the application they are supportive in offering guidance on submitting an enhancement request. Currently there is an enhancement that will be rolled out by Oracle that was designed for our organization.

We bought online training subscription from Oracle University. The subscription allowed our team to learn the nuts and bolts of the application. The subscription model helps access to all the modules as opposed to buying training for one module. We also leveraged guided learning subscription from Oracle. Guided learning is a state of the art learning application from Oracle. It resides within the application and guides the users on each and every step. This is learning by doing and is very effective. Once you buy guided learning, oracle keeps updating it with the release of new functionality in the quarterly upgrades.

Implementation Rating
Oracle
The key success factors for the implementation was project management, in-house expertise in IT and time. The implementation process started with the initial evaluation with the initial upgrade on a test system and mapping out the gaps and requirements. We did work with Oracle to understand the new functionality R12 had to offer and did another upgrade and researched solutions. With the use of software development cycle procedures there were conference room pilots with IT, business users. We then refined the project plan to the core key details, performed mock go-live implementations and finally upgraded the software. Overall, this was a very successful process.

Try to use the system as true to generic form as possible and cut over quickly. Parallel implementation is not recommended. If the numbers are accurate and materially similar to prior period - cut over. A small accounting adjustment is much better than millions in project overruns or dual system maintenance.

Coupa does not have a Project Accounting module. SAP was too expensive. PeopleSoft is more catered towards to human resources software, while Salesforce is for CRM.
Oracle has better financials and project portfolio management suite when compared to the competition and this what we needed.
