Azure virtual WAN has been deployed in our corporation to unify our networking and routing workflows. We are able to connect hubs between endpoints in a simplified way in a standard virtual WAN. We are using its powerful branch connectivity features to automate connectivity with SD-WAN and its other partner devices.
  • Provides a view of end-to-end flow across Azure allowing for automatic troubleshooting.
  • We are able to seamlessly connect our virtual networks to Azure hub.
  • Site to Site VPN connectivity automates on premise and Azure hub connections.
  • Integrations are limited within Azure. It is difficult to carry out multi-cloud integrations.
  • If you haven't understood your monthly cost you can receive price shocks.
Azure Virtual WAN provides single functional interphase for routing, monitoring, connectivity and security operations. The connection of hubs in Azure virtual WAN makes it simple for us to use Microsoft as the pillar of our spoke connectivity. The platform provides us with robust connectivity features that allow for transitive connectivity across different spokes. As I am working as a consultant in the Oil and gas domain in my current organization, we are using Azure Virtual WAN as our primary Cloud provider. So there are a Lot of Vnets in multiple locations, we are using Azure Virtual WAN for handling Site to Site VPN Connectivity, Routing, Intracloud connectivity, and a lot more communications between multiple sites.
  • It offers a seamless experience while connecting Virtual networks and Workloads via Azure Hub.
  • Lot of connectivity options present - site to site VPN/Express route etc.
  • Very easy connectivity and migration with on-premise sites and Azure Hub.
  • Learning and managing Azure Virtual WAN has quite a steep learning curve.
  • Flexibility and solutions are limited to the available feature set compared to a classic hub and spoke.
  • Sometimes can cost very high if not used efficiently.
Azure Virtual WAN is a diverse connectivity service that brings together networking, connectivity, security, monitoring, and routing features. It provides a centralized console for the management of our network backbone. Earlier our network connectivity options were limited and disoriented but after implementing Azure Virtual WAN, we were able to build a Global network backbone with managed points of presence all across the globe.

As we were already using Azure as a cloud platform, it was easy setting up a Virtual WAN inside Azure as users/developers and DevOps engineers were familiar with the user interface and functioning as compared to going to some other portal for just the VWAN solution. The umbrella of features provided by Azure Virtual WAN made it the right choice for our infrastructure.
