Booker - you should give it a try!

Rating: 8 out of 10

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

I piloted Booker for a few months in my district, trying it to see if it might be an easier way to book COVID testing appointments. When it was explored, we were experiencing very very long lines (150+) for COVID testing. It made sense to explore options for parents and/or students to be able to better manage the scheduling experience. We also thought if we could explore it for COVID testing, we could use it for other events, such as registration for new students.

Pros

  • easy scheduling
  • user friendly interface
  • 24/7 access
  • cloud based
  • fairly inexpensive

Cons

  • customer service was sometimes challenging to get timely responses
  • some of the features took a bit to learn from the end of those setting up the schedules

Likelihood to Recommend

Booker is very user friendly with videos to help our staff who are setting up schedules. It has very robust features that our school district didn't really need when we piloted it. It has a great option for widgets to be added to websites, whether district or school site. We find that the more widgets are available, the more appreciative our parents are. This is definitely a product that is used in the business world and not in the school district world so it doesn't really have the personalization we need as a school district or a school sites. Should the site change its potential customers, it would be a great fit for us because scheduling is very challenging in a large school district, be it at the district level or at individual school sites.

A very useful tool for every business with best internal and external solutions

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Booker is very easy to set up and very intuitive. It is very comforting in setting up and booking online for my clients and user can set their schedules according to their use. It also offers the feature of tracking the record of your clients and looking at their progress. In these modern times, it has reduced the paperwork.

Pros

  • Calendar management
  • Gift purchase
  • Online client management
  • Reduced paperwork

Cons

  • Takes long in tracking clients
  • Reports are confusing
  • Difficult to add a new member

Likelihood to Recommend

Booker helps me manage my calendar and schedule the clients. It also gives the amazing feature of tracking and checking on the progress of clients. In this modern and global world, the stress of paperwork is cut down by this platform. It is easy to pocket and its customer service is very satisfactory.

Solid POS system with a few areas of improvement

Rating: 7 out of 10

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use Booker for just about everything from scheduling client appointments, to capturing payment, to printing reports. Every employee of our company uses Booker on a daily basis from our technicians to our CEO. This is our point of sale system so it is the core of how we function from day-to-day.

Pros

  • Booker is great for customer management. You can easily add customers with numerous areas to put additional information for them. With the addition of Frederick, sending out Birthday emails and contacting them via email is a breeze.
  • I have found Booker to be extremely easy to teach new hires how to use. Because it is so visual, I find that anyone can pick up the basics of how to use this software very quickly.
  • Booker makes it extremely easy for a company with multiple locations to be able to toggle between those locations.
  • Frederick has been a great addition!

Cons

  • While there is an abundance of reports that Frederick offers, I find that they are very glitchy and inconsistent. A similar report may show differing numbers making it extremely confusing. We used to use a different POS system that was stellar with reporting so we were a bit spoiled.
  • While the addition of Frederick has been a huge pro, it still has many kinks that need to be worked out. The email creation portion is way too basic. You can't even change the font! While I know it's still fairly new, it definitely needs some more bells and whistles.
  • I deal a lot with uploading gift certificate templates. It is painfully slow! Sometimes it takes me 7-8 minutes just to wait for my gift certificate template to load. That area definitely needs work.

Likelihood to Recommend

If someone is looking to bring a POS system for a smaller business, Booker is great. They have all of the basics that you could want and it's so easy to teach new employees how to use. However, when you have a larger company that requires lots of reporting, Booker is not the most ideal. In addition, memberships are a hot buzz feature right now in this industry. While Booker does have membership functionality, it is very basic and needs some additions. So for a company that is strong in memberships and relying on reports, I may not recommend Booker as highly.

Try Booker!

Rating: 9 out of 10
Incentivized

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Booker is used as our primary appointment scheduling tool, as well as a communication channel for staff and technicians to review important case notes about patients. It is accessed by the entire organization and solves our initial booking issues (we used Google Calendar).

Pros

  • Notifcations to patients and alerts for technicians
  • Comprehensize point of sale system
  • One of a kind marketing platform that is cohesive

Cons

  • It is a little cumbersome to use and lacks innovation, like a traditional CRM. Keep in mind, this isn't what it's striving to be.
  • Chat feature for customer support.
  • Old school feel for a new school business.

Likelihood to Recommend

The best-case scenario, is use in a small wellness center and spa.

Booker gains

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We are using Booker as a POS platform, and also for booking which clients can access remotely.

Pros

  • Up to the minute analysis of sales. Graphics on dashboard.
  • Access books from anywhere.
  • Integration of booking platforms.

Cons

  • Having multiple salons, somehow seeing clients' history from another location easier than having to open the other location's data
  • Perhaps link telephone calls to Booker so software can recognize the client and open their profile. I know this is a long shot but ....
  • Marketing tools tha integrate to the software

Likelihood to Recommend

Love this platform.

Perfect for a Spa

Rating: 9 out of 10

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

I used Booker as a spa manager at a medical spa in New York City and at a previous spa before that. I LOVE it and it really covered everything we needed. I do remember I wish that the reports section was a bit more user friendly but I found that after a lot of searching you would be able to figure out what was needed.

Pros

  • Appealing to the eye for not only customers but employees.
  • A great all-in-one program that you can truly run your business from.

Cons

  • Creating packages could be easier.
  • Reports could be "dumbed down" a bit to be more user friendly.

Likelihood to Recommend

The main questions I had was the ease of booking for customers and employees. The company had a great reputation and it was very easy to use! I don't recall a specific situation where it was causing problems aside from the "site down" moments which weren't that bad for a small business but potentially a problem with a spa with more flow.

Booker is the Best!

Rating: 10 out of 10
Incentivized

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use Booker as our point of sale system across multiple locations, with Booker everything is in one centralized location, making our life easier. I have tried 7 other POS systems such as Salon Iris, Square, Micros etc., but none of them comes close to Booker when it comes to a salon POS system. It has well integrated social media, marketing, appointment, reporting, scheduling, payroll and many other features, which our main office is able to use to manage things remotely.

Pros

  • Scheduling
  • Appointments
  • Social Media
  • Payroll

Cons

  • Credit Card Processing

Likelihood to Recommend

For us, it is very well suited. Since we have multiple locations. I like the integration of each and every piece that is very much needed for any business.

Easy to use but needs work

Rating: 7 out of 10

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We are a makeup studio and we use Booker to book appointments for our makeup and hair clients. As the studio manager, I use it, as well as my manager, and our receptionist. While Booker is easy to learn if you're new to it, there are a ton of glitches when making appointments and checking out customers. I do wish that you could view more than one service sales and product sales report at a time. For example, I would like to compare August and September sales separated by month but on the same page. Unfortunately, if I want to see sales from Aug 1 to Sept 30, it will show the TOTAL sales between those dates, rather than breaking it down and separating the months. There are plenty of times we'll try to book an appointment with an artist but Booker will say there's no staff available which is not the case.

Pros

  • Scheduling staff and hours of operation - very easy to do and follow.
  • Adding to and removing services from our menu - there are so many categories to choose from and I like that you can rename your own.
  • Managing orders - you can add a walk-in as a new customer when taking a new order, which is a great thing because they'll remain in your customer database. You can also see clearly who paid cash and credit and this makes it easy to navigate when cross referencing when its time to close out the register for end of day count.

Cons

  • Too many errors and glitches when booking appointments. At times it will say no staff is available or the service won't show up in the menu. At times, refreshing and logging out and back in won't do the trick.
  • When refunding a client in cash, the cash is not deducted from the end of day count, and throws off the register.
  • Should definitely improve their loyalty and rewards program. Customers who login cannot see how many points they have earned. And we can't track in Booker if they've earned a reward. For example: Book 5 blowouts, get the 6th free. Booker won't communicate to you that they have earned a free reward. You have to go into each customer's profile, and look through their past appointments, and count their services, which is time consuming.

Likelihood to Recommend

Booker is easy to learn for a new user which is why I give it a 7.

Booker is a day spa "must have"

Rating: 10 out of 10
Incentivized

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use Booker for scheduling, point of sale, merchant services and gift certificate management. Booker has helped streamline all aspects of spa management on front and back end. We particularly need a solution for gift certificate management and Booker tracks and manages individual gift certificates very well. We also find the integrated merchant services invaluable.

Pros

  • Booker does very well as a point of sale program. From front desk check out to back end report generation, Booker gives us an accurate daily picture of business activity.
  • Booker is very good at tracking gift certificate activity. We have a large number of gift certificates and are able to find, edit and void with ease. We are also able to look at the history for each individual certificate or series which helps in troubleshooting.
  • I do not work with scheduling myself but staffers have found Booker to be a valuable tool for managing rooms and therapists.

Cons

  • The export to QuickBooks is a weakness. It is transaction based and requires a bridge through Excel and a third party vendor to execute. After three years we have never been able to transfer over any credit items (refunds, etc...). I would love to see a true Booker to QuickBooks bridge that would show deposit and detail balanced against daily totals rather than having to import every single daily transaction. For peak sales months the number of transactions is daunting. QuickBooks also has an export specifically for QuickBooks that is based on the Accounts Receivable feature in QuickBooks and we have never used it because we cannot generate accurate cash reporting for tax purposes.
  • Some reporting does not match other reporting in the same category. For example, the total gift certificate and series balance does not match the gift certificate and series drill down report. In some of the reports, like the dashboard vs a retail sales report, one will include discounts and the other will not. I would like to see a daily, weekly or monthly gift certificate and series reconciliation report that has a beginning balance, sales, redemptions, adjustment and voids and an ending balance.
  • When a client uses more than one payment method, for example a gift certificate and a credit card, the system is currently not able to show the split in payments accurately in reports.

Likelihood to Recommend

Because of the integration of so many critical features, I would not hesitate to recommend Booker to others. The few back end drawbacks are a small price to pay for the front end functionality.
