I am an HR Consultant with clients in states across the US. Brightmine allows me to easily stay up to date with employment laws and best practices. When a client has an issue that I have not come across or am not sure how to address, I can go to Brightmine and quickly find an answer. Their step-by-step guides provide great reminders of how to handle complex situations.

Likelihood to Recommend

Well suited: Anyone in HR who is managing employees in multiple states. HR employees who are more entry-level and need professional guidance for support. HR Consultants who are providing professional guidance.

Less appropriate: when legal authority or interpretation is required, employers should still consult an attorney. While the guidance in Brightmine is great, specific situations can lead to the need for additional, professional input.

Our small HR team uses Brightmine daily in our roles, from downloading templates for documentation and policies, to getting inspiration and guidance for training for our stakeholders. We are a team of three ranging from 2 - 4 years' generalist experience to 20+ (HRD) and we all get so much value from Brightmine. Probably the best value we have seen is the ability to move forwards without a costly monthly legal retainer in place; the legal advice service is invaluable, practical and the response time is swift! As all HR professionals will know, every day is a school day regardless of time in the role. As we cover APAC in our team, it's also great to know that we can expand the scope of the legal advice service beyond the UK as we grow and the need increases.

Perfect for those with an some existing knowledge of statutory requirements, may be more difficult to use for those without.

I use it to ensure the company is compliant regulatory use

on the state, local and federal levels. I use it to manage my employee handbooks, write

new policies, troubleshoot HR related challenges, use templates. It is my HR advisor. It helps

me do my job every day. I trust the content to be accurate and precise which is really important.

I find it is suited for most cases ... it does not do well with specific ER cases /challenges where there are unique facts or situations. Common ER issues aren't covered well like writing up someone for being late. But the other resources make up for it.

Brightmine has been a great resource for staying current on HR compliance areas in real time. It has been fantastic to have this data at my fingertips when working with a multi-state population. As my on demand as issues have increased, Brightmine has been invaluable to-go for quick data to make informed decisions.

When troubleshooting and needing state specific compliance, I have been able to quickly access and validate data to make informed decisions. For example, when working with a multi-state population of employees, I have repeatedly used Brightmine to review state specific laws at employment separations. When working on employee handbook updates, I have been able to utilize Brightmine to review current policy requirements as well as use as a starting point for drafting policy updates. It has been a very great tool - very turnkey.

We most frequently use Brightmine for lots of letter and policy templates, which are incredibly useful and helpful in getting you started and contain lots of relevant information. We also use some of the interactive flow charts and for information relating to trending topics. The webinars are also really useful and interesting to attend.

Brightmine has been so helpful in supporting us to update and introduce new policies, as we are able to use their templates as a base for our own policies which saves so much time writing them from scratch. Some of the language in the templates can be slightly direct and harsh and has less of a welfare feel to it, but it is clear and concise and easy to adapt the tone.

We are currently subscribed to the HR & Compliance Center which offers support and resources, expertise and guidance to revolutionize our HR processes and people strategy. Our HR team regularly uses Brightmine's comprehensive state charts and informational webinars to stay on top of the latest additions and updates in the compliance space.

Compliance has been the primary focus for our team's use of the Brightmine platform. There is not a platform that I am aware of within the Brightmine site that allows for HR professionals to ask questions and/or discuss their questions/concerns with feedback from either industry experts or other HR professionals so I will reference SHRM for those matters.

We use Brightmine for all of the legal resources and information it provides on its main platform. I receive email updates to law and regulatory changes which are very helpful and I have employees in 30 states and I cannot keep track of all of that on my own. I rely on Brightmine for that information. We also use Brightmine for creation and updating of our employee handbook. Again, it helps us keep abreast of changes in the law that affect the content within our handbook.

It is an invaluable tool if you don't have in house counsel and you don't want to always be contacting outside counsel for information. The resources in the platform cannot be found anywhere else. You don't get this level of content from SHRM, and I feel confident with the information because I know it is a legal entity that runs the platform, not an association.

We do not have legal on our staff. It is great to run things by an expert to ensure we are following the correct steps when it comes to an involuntary termination or a tricky situation that may involve some compliance.

The HR & Compliance Center and Automated Handbook Management subscriptions have been incredibly helpful in keeping us compliant. We are a small department and have employees in 15 different states so staying on top of individual state laws with regard to things like paid leave, etc. can be very daunting. Brightmine has helped alleviate some of that.

It was tough to get management on board with paying for these tools and resources, but the bottom line is compliance is everything. Sure we can get the information through various other sources and scouring the web, but Brightmine puts it all at your fingertips...and when you're running from fire to fire in a small HR department, there's no time to waste!

I use Brightmine to keep me up to date on payroll and absence related legislative updates. I really like the feature that you can subscribe to things that interest you so that you're not constantly having to weed through information, and yet, you still have the ability to access that information whenever you need to, as opposed to paying a separate fee for various areas of interest.

Likelihood to Recommend

It's obviously well optimal for getting the black and white facts on legislative pay and time updates. I have not used it much for other areas so unsure where it may be less optimal.
