Google Chat is your secret weapon for remote productivity!

Rating: 9 out of 10

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Google Chat is an innovative messaging tool that allows users to connect both directly and in groups.

At [...], Google Chat fosters seamless communication and collaboration across teams. As a Business Analyst working in a fast-paced enivornment, I have to rely on Google Chat for instant messaging and group conversations to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams. We use it everyday to maintain a steady flow of updates, so that all departments stay aligned without the need for meetings.

Since our team member includes remote employees, Google Chat helps ensure that everyone remains connected, regardless of location.

Pros

  • When discussing about a specific project, I can quickly share google docs or sheets within the chat which helps my team to view the document in real time and they do not have to leave the conversation.
  • Scheduling a meeting with someone is very easy on Google Chat.
  • We have remote team members in different time zones and instead of waiting for emails we use Google Chat to quickly discuss anything.

Cons

  • Google Chat should bring more AI options.
  • Even with good internet speed sometimes Google Chat is really slow.
  • When sharing large videos with the team, we often run into the 200MB file limit. We then have to upload the file to Google Drive and then share a link.I wish the file size limit could be increased from 200MB to 1GB.

Likelihood to Recommend

When we brainstorm new ideas for a product feature, Google Chat provides a quick and easy place to exchange ideas.

When managing long-term projects like new brand onboarding, where it's essential to track deadlines, we have to use dedicated project management tools like Monday.com . Google Chat is really helpful for quick discussions but it doesn’t have the features to handle complex projects. For assigning tasks, setting due dates, and monitoring progress, we have rely on tools like Monday.com .

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use Google Chat in our organization for internal communication across different teams. Keep collaboration in sync we work towards achieving our goals easier. Earlier we were completely related to standard and board meetings which are very hectic when we don't get a conference room to get in touch with one another. bring Google chat we can communicate easily with anyone also a group of people for faster decision-making. Our vision and focus were to mainly interact with multiple teammates keeping communication as the main channel. Now today we use Google chat as a platform to connect engage and make our communication and decisions faster reducing 70% of manual time which again increases the cost of the inventory

Pros

  • faster collaboration
  • robust security
  • compatible
  • free and secure

Cons

  • some glitches in the UI
  • Additional language support
  • emogis need to be improved

Likelihood to Recommend

To keep communication within your organization and to organize any event where multiple team involvement is needed we recommend using google chat as it has very great features like priority notification. We can add groups and have collective communication that helps in making decisions faster. You can also connect with multiple people over the calls and also easily create a transcript that can be useful for future references. i see in certain areas this is not well suited where you are involved with client calls or customer calls I don't recommend this application as this is not that suitable for large audience or system meaning this have certain limitation in adding total number of people to calls.

Reliable communication across locations

Rating: 8 out of 10
Incentivized

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Since we don't use other instant messaging platforms like Slack or Teams, Google Chat is a streamlined route to communicating across the team and ensuring that messages are both saved and secure.

Pros

  • Ease of use
  • Task coordination across multiple teams
  • Fluid across multiple locations

Cons

  • Limited project management capabilities

Likelihood to Recommend

We have two locations, so it's wonderful to be able to instant message across them. It wouldn't be as important in a small business where all employees are in the same room.

Nice tool as it comes with G Suite

Rating: 6 out of 10
Incentivized

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We are using Google Chat for day-to-day collaboration within the team. It fulfills our needs for fast communication. Within a Google Suite, Google Chat is not bad. However, if you ever used Slack - Google Chat would be not nice for you at first glance I believe. Mainly because of the missing functionality compared to Slack: e.g., missing automation and bots in my experience, markdown is not fully supported in my experience, creation of the spaces, low/missing integration with other apps (e.g., GitLab) in my experience. However for simple communication - it's not bad. To sum up, Google Chat is ok, if you need to communicate, however loses to Slack in diversity of automation, integration and IMHO usability in my opinion.

Pros

  • Communication between users
  • GIFs & emojis
  • Creating tasks from messages and putting those in Calendar

Cons

  • More versatile markdown (e.g., adding 2 levels of points, code snippets etc.)
  • Provide automations and writing bots (same as on Slack)
  • Improve threads (they are not prominent and easy to lose sight of)

Likelihood to Recommend

If the company is IT comoany and has Google Suite license and wants to spare money on communication tool -> then Google Chat is a really good choice. For non-IT companies, Google Suite can be also suitable option. In all other cases - if the company has at least 3+ IT teams/departments, then it's better to use Slack in my opinion.
