Use Cases and Deployment Scope

I use Google Trends in my job to research the topics that are trending in the world of news. Also, to verify what keywords people are using to look up for a specific event and if some topic has been relevant through the years. Finally, I use the platform to see how a topic performs in specific countries.

Pros

  • Shows trending topics
  • Allows to do specific searches
  • It is easy to use
  • It is free

Cons

  • It should include a tutorial for first users

Likelihood to Recommend

Google Trends is perfect for people who want to rank their content in the Google search, such as articles, products, and blogs. This tool is ideal for those who work on SEO and want to know what are the perfect words to reach some specific public.

Google Trends is great at getting an overall understanding of search trends

Rating: 10 out of 10

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Google Trends is very helpful when we are trying to gain a high-level understanding of how certain things are been searched for or how people from across the world are engaging with a different concept in different ways and at different volumes. It helps us understand a large number of folks in a small period of time when it comes to a certain dimension.

Pros

  • Visually appealling
  • Simple to use
  • Helpful comparison charts

Cons

  • Make it easier to set a custom time range
  • Add context when possible for certain results
  • Related topics don't seem very related to current search.

Likelihood to Recommend

If you need to understand how the search trends for a given term have changed over time it is incredibly helpful. It is not as helpful if you are looking to see how specific search terms relate to your specific website as the data is general not particularly specific. It's also helpful to see regional differences in search behavior.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use it to know the keyword search volume, what's the search cycle and how the keywords have varied over time.

Pros

  • Search volume.
  • Keyword searching trend.

Cons

  • It doesn't show exact search volume but shows a range.

Likelihood to Recommend

Suited for PPC and content planning.

Useful for a general indication but not specific decision-making

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We have great word-of-mouth referrals, but are working on beefing up our marketing to reach new audiences faster. Google Trends provides an interesting way to see the relative popularity of search terms related to our business over time. My hope is that it will help us identify useful tweaks to make to our current site and content to rank higher for relevant search terms by identifying the terms to focus on.

Pros

  • Clean and appealing interface.
  • Easy to change search parameters.
  • Easy to hop between keywords to explore related terms.

Cons

  • Only 5 keywords for the comparison chart.
  • Related keywords are somewhat limited.
  • Help screens are less helpful than third-party articles.

Likelihood to Recommend

Google Trends is useful to get a general feel for relative popularity of search terms, either against each other or over time. This can show you seasonal variations and help choose between similar keywords, as well as providing some very general indications about the popularity of competitors.

On the minus side, I wouldn't use it as the only reference for anything, including choosing keywords. It's a good rough indicator, but not specific enough to use on its own to draw any conclusions.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

It is currently being used by different areas within the organization. Not only marketing team, but also commercial and planning and buying teams find useful information from Google Trends, when looking in user behavior and search trends in search queries related to the categories and products we sell, so we can follow it and be able to offer what users are looking for to buy.

Pros

  • Rising search queries and trends.
  • Trends across different regions.
  • Product and category seasonality.

Cons

  • Values are not absolute numbers, instead of indexed numbers.

Likelihood to Recommend

Google Trends is very useful when analysing search trends over a specific period of time, as to understand seasonalities and ascending trends, especially when we think about the fashion market, in which new trends arise very fast. It makes it possible to follow these new trends and also compare their volume to existing queries.

Google Trends Needs To Be A Tool in Your Tool Kit

Rating: 10 out of 10

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

I cannot speak for the whole organization but I know the entire Marketing department relies on Google Trends. We use this site to predict ad performance, help us decide on keywords, follow trends of current keywords we are using in campaigns, and also see if there is any seasonality of recurring ups/downs with certain terms. We also use the trending topics feature to see if there is anything relevant there to any of our clients.

Pros

  • Allows you to search keywords and phrases in certain locations to see search volumes, this is huge and helps us be successful with our Google Ad campaigns.
  • Shows us insights into trending topics which allows us to stay in the know and apply any relevant trends to current clients.
  • Year in Search and Trending Topics provides us great inspiration for our ads
  • Being able to search in certain locations gives us a ton of help when setting up campaigns and doing our keyword research for clients.
  • Being able to compare multiple keywords or search terms side by side is extremely helpful.

Likelihood to Recommend

Google Trends helps with the initial planning of a campaign and keyword research but it also aides us when we are optimizing accounts as well. Anyone who advertises on Google should be utilizing Google Trends. It can also be fun to just see what's trending and what people are interested in at the moment, even if it doesn't relate to your advertising efforts. Scenarios where it is less appropriate would be if you aren't in need of advertising help or needing to know what's popular or "tending" at the moment.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Google Trends helps us see daily search volume for our organization and competitors. It helps us think through how we want to use keywords to optimize our website and our youtube videos. It also helps us with our advertising and knowing what keywords to use and what people are searching for. This is used in our marketing department.

Pros

  • Allows us to look through search data.
  • Easy to use.
  • Very visual and good user interface.

Cons

  • I wish I could see more analytics to google trends
  • Better integration with other google products
  • Related search terms could be better

Likelihood to Recommend

It's good when you start out to use Google Trends. I think most people aren't aware that this is a tool that you can use. When you first start off using it, it helps you to see what keywords people are searching for which can be helpful for your business. It's easy to use and simpler than the other keyword tools out there.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

My company uses Google Trends to see how our client's brand name holds up to the broad keywords used to identify the company. The simple graph feature allows us to have a visual of how these general and brand keywords are ranking year over year and month over month to see if we are on track with yearly and monthly trends.

Pros

  • Measuring how popular a keyword is.
  • Using graphs to compare the search volume of different queries over time.

Cons

  • If monthly searches are around ten or less the graph can be difficult to read.
  • Could provide different types of graphs to show differences.

Likelihood to Recommend

Google Trends is a great tool to use when doing SEO or PPC for a company. It allows you to see seasonal trends of keywords, both broad and brand, and this gives you an idea of how to optimize your website to be on pace with the trends at hand.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

I use it for my own consulting business, as well as for my clients' businesses to research seasonality by industry. It's also great for comparing general search terms' volume when doing keyword research.

Pros

  • Researching industry seasonality.
  • Researching product purchase intent by keyword search.

Cons

  • You can narrow your search by industry, but Google doesn't always have a category that applies. It would be nice to be able to drill down and even search for what may be a closer fit.
  • Perhaps some integration between Keyword Planner and Google Trends would be nice, so you don't have to bounce between them.

Likelihood to Recommend

Google Trends is a good fit for generalized keyword research and for getting some understanding of seasonality by industry. However, it's really just a start. It doesn't tell the whole story, so typically more research is required for decision making. I use it when teaching marketing classes to get people excited about doing their research because it provides an immediate, visual result. It also gives newbies insight into how Google "thinks".

Google Trends offers a quick and easy way to assess how your company is being searched

Rating: 9 out of 10
Incentivized

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Google Trends has proven to be a great tool when assessing how what the public are researching about our company, as well as an easy way to see how issues (both positive and negative) are playing out on the search engine.

Pros

  • Ability to compare different search terms against one another.
  • Ability to show search interest over a period of time.
  • A relatively simple graphic interface to show how issues are being searched online.

Cons

  • Some of the data is a bit lacking as it only shows Search Interest over time and not actual searches.
  • Google Trends always defaults to the USA. It would be nice if it would save your search preference.
  • It would be helpful if it also helped to present the top search results over time.

Likelihood to Recommend

Google Trends is helpful in being able to provide a quick assessment as to what your customers might be searching for as it relates to your company or services. It is also a free tool.
