We started using Hotjar when our platform first went live. It was beneficial to track company adoption so that we could inform their leaders on how frequently their team was logging in. It was also super helpful to watch the recordings of how users used the platform to identify bugs or other changes that needed to be made.
We use Hotjar to analyze the performance of our website. We use the clickmaps and scrollmaps to understand whether our layout is intuitive and easy to navigate and to see if the most important parts of the website are being seen or interacted with by visitors. It's also easy to find metrics like bounce rates which aren't easily found in Google Analytics

Easy to understand analytics. The metrics aren't hidden under layers of menus, you can easily find what you need

Hotjar is good for a first pass at understanding user sentiment or locating potential usability issues. There are features such as "rage clicked" which shows recordings or instances when a user rage clicked or had an issue with your site. Hotjar has also been helpful to launch intercept surveys on mobile, desktop, and app, which not all competitor software allow. Hotjar recordings are fun to watch. "Watching Hotjar like Netflix" is a favorite pastime at work.

By using Hotjar, we are able to get insights that we simply cannot get elsewhere
