Best Cloud-Based, Highly Customizable Option

Rating: 8 out of 10

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use Looker's reporting metrics to help give us an overall picture of our clients' health and better assess where there is risk. The data points we mainly use Looker for are the adoption of our product for end users and housing our client directory and sales dashboards. Looker is a great tool with interactive dashboards that allow me to define business logic without having a large amount of SQL knowledge

Pros

  • Interactive dashboards, they are more comprehensive and detailed than other products weve used
  • API platform - we can embed analytics into a custom format
  • Collaboration - any google product makes collaborating for our fully remote company really easy and trackable

Cons

  • There is a learning curve with this product; at first it can be complicated and confusing with how robust the technology capabilities are.
  • If you have very very large data sets it can cause the performance to decline slightly. being slow or unresponsive
  • maintaining the dashboard does require input from the developers so there is a dependency on them to dedicate time to upkeep

Likelihood to Recommend

for our fully remote company, having our data, metrics and logic in one place is helpful. These are seperated out nicely in folders allowing us to have a good workflow of the upkeep and organization from a data analyst perspective. i think the main reason we chose this product was for the strong availability for embedding analytics into other applications

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Switching to Looker has been pivotal in our organization. It serves as a centralized data analysis platform, eliminating scattered dashboards and unifying our reporting across all functions, from email marketing communications to paid search. We can track conversions, monitor customers behaviour and marketign spend at a glance.

Pros

  • Easy and clean interface
  • Adaptable tiles
  • Several boards at once

Cons

  • You need a tech background
  • The drill down function is difficult to analyse
  • Difficult to find fields

Likelihood to Recommend

It will be great for medium sized company, as it will serve as a one-stop data analysis tool. However, if you need more complicated dashboards, or add filters, or make changes, techincal support is always required and most of the times you can't self-serve.

Easy to set up and distribute

Rating: 10 out of 10

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

One of the main uses we have for Looker it's unifying the different sources of sales that we have in a single simplified dashboard for CEO with the objective of having a single source of data to drive the Business further with its current status, sales and margins. This has brought extreme value for our CEO as she never had a full 360 view of its business.

Pros

  • Unify different sources of data
  • Handle big amounts of data
  • Provide different tools to dive in the data

Cons

  • Customization of tables
  • Formatting for tables
  • Modeling data with connections

Likelihood to Recommend

Extremely useful if you are already paying for your google business suite. Also is really simple to set up and to share with others inside your organization without making really complex front ends. Also if you already did your modeling outside Looker it will be much faster to run an insights are really easy to grasp.

Looker has a niche spot and it is effective in that niche.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Looker provides insight and reports to various customer data points we use to identify demand, utilization, capacity, and more. We create dashboards to monitor real-time and historical customer utilization as well as to generate a pipeline by identifying customers that are under-subscribed. It is also useful for heat-mapping by allowing us to identify which customers are using or not using certain SKUs.

Pros

  • Visualization
  • Charts
  • Graphs
  • Allow for customization.

Cons

  • The setup of reports is a specialized skill that requires custom training.
  • Permissions for various users are tricky to arrange and keep straight.
  • I have not been able to figure out how to automate notifications. I always have to seek out the information I'm looking for.

Likelihood to Recommend

When data drives potential for new orders, Looker earns its place in our tech stack. If, on the other hand, we are hoping for pipeline generation, Looker is useful if you are willing to repeatedly go check customer utilizations .... it is not appropriate if you are hoping to automate data analysis for this purpose.

Looker the one-stop shop for companies to increase depth of data and visualization across a business with many data points

Rating: 9 out of 10

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Looker is our company-wise BI reporting platform. This enables us to access all of our (many) data sources in one place. Given teams and stakeholders flexibility in creating their own dashboard from the multiple data streams or working with a data professional to build a dynamic dashboard to their specifications.

Pros

  • Dashboard Creation
  • Data Visualisation
  • LookML
  • Shareability

Cons

  • Visual Customisation
  • Processing Speed
  • Error Debug

Likelihood to Recommend

One-stop shop and easy to use platform for reporting and data visualisation. That can be set up in a way where data is accessible in a clean format to the whole business, pre-aggregated and gives non-data professionals to manipulate data easily.

Looker Studio for PE backed companies.

Rating: 9 out of 10

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Looker Studio helps us track events and user data, such as Google Ads, Microsoft Ads, Google Tag Manager, Google Search Console, and Google Business Profile events. It allowed us to keep all of our customer tracking data in one place and update things as needed, including the dates we want to track.

Pros

  • Custom reporting.
  • Visually Appealing.
  • Data Integration.

Cons

  • Provide more free connectors, including Facebook, IG, etc.
  • Technical glitches happen often.

Likelihood to Recommend

Looker is well-suited for those who work with clients or businesses that require frequent updates to their reporting. It helps businesses grow by providing detailed data on customer behavior and search queries. From there, you are able to tweak certain campaigns. Once you create a report in Looker, simply change the dates to get updated reporting. It's less appropriate if you don't care much about customer data.

Solid dependable with a good UX for all levels

Rating: 7 out of 10

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use Looker studio within my large global organization to create analytics dashboards of the online performance of our company websites - both b2c and b2b. We produce a lot of 'public data' i.e. content like blogs, reports, how tos, editorial pieces, articles etc. We sync Looker studio to our other tools like Dreamdata, salesforce dc etc. to help measure attribution of content to revenue. Our site dashboards are used by many teams around the business.

Pros

  • data visualisation
  • techstack integration
  • shareable dashboards
  • marketing funnel analytics support

Cons

  • sometimes dates don't update easily
  • not always responsive and quick enough
  • heavy page load
  • can't update everything to be in brand colours

Likelihood to Recommend

Based on my experience in a very large organisation where we have an analytics team and they need to share this data throughout the business in many global teams, Looker is well suited and appropriate. It means that people can self-serve the data they need at any time of day and don't need to hassle the team. It also means we can establish pre-set dashboards and reporting so that we can reduce duplication of work and speed up reporting time; thanks to integrations the data is there in always-on Looker studio reports for us to view.

Looker Looks Great for Google Services

Rating: 8 out of 10
Incentivized

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Looker is our BI choice for our Google software and services. It is the simplest way to create dashboards and Business Intelligence reporting for your Google marketing and advertising endeavors. Although there are many, many similar pieces of software on the market, we have found that no other reporting system provides feeds from our YouTube, Google Search Console, Analytics, and Google AdSense all in one tight package.

Pros

  • Reports from Google software and services data feeds
  • Creating simple, clean dashboards
  • Better reporting than AdWords or Google Analytics.

Cons

  • Documentation is scarce, and very difficult to find when you need it.
  • Pricing is unclear, particularly as you look to scale your reports across the business.
  • Data from other sources is not represented in the system as well as first party Google services.

Likelihood to Recommend

Looker is ideal if you are heavily invested in Google Services, particularly marketing related services, and you with to quickly create reporting dashboards for that data. It gets more difficult when you try to tie in data from other services, and I would not use this were I already using BI package - it is not anywhere near as well supported or as widely known as some of its major competitors, but what it does do, it does do well.

Powerful Dashboards and Real-Time Analytics with Looker

Rating: 8 out of 10
Incentivized

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Looker is (usually) free and easy to set up using built-in connectors to Google's tools. Having a Looker dashboard is often easier to use and access than the default GA4 reports and Looker gives you the ability to add your own objectives using Google Sheet for example. and Looker is our go-to tool for reporting on all the users' data in our platforms.

Pros

  • Performance is solid, even with large datasets—it stays fast and responsive
  • Drag & Drop Data Querying
  • You can customize dashboards to fit your company’s specific needs.

Cons

  • Adding AI features would be a big plus.
  • Flexibility
  • Combining metrics and figuring out the percent change.

Likelihood to Recommend

It is far better to share data with "non-data people" or at a glance than with spreadsheets. It enables quicker decision-making by giving us real-time insights.
