Overall Satisfaction with Looker

We use Looker studio within my large global organization to create analytics dashboards of the online performance of our company websites - both b2c and b2b. We produce a lot of 'public data' i.e. content like blogs, reports, how tos, editorial pieces, articles etc. We sync Looker studio to our other tools like Dreamdata, Salesforce dc etc. to help measure attribution of content to revenue. Our site dashboards are used by many teams around the business.

Pros

  • data visualisation
  • techstack integration
  • shareable dashboards
  • marketing funnel analytics support

Cons

  • sometimes dates don't update easily
  • not always responsive and quick enough
  • heavy page load
  • can't update everything to be in brand colours
  • improved time to results - build once and repeat reporting
  • improved automated report delivery
  • negative - sometimes people don't look at the report or go to pull the data because they know it's always there; I worry it actually means some people look at numbers less day-to-day and only access when requested
Looker stacks up well against other data providers for usability and friendly interfaces, plus the ability to customise. We actually integrate Looker with other analytics tools in the same sphere (power bi, Dreamdata and others) so that we can have one comprehensive dashboard of data.

Tableau is a little less user friendly in my experience, Looker is more suitable and usable for everyone; from junior staff to senior researchers.

Do you think Looker delivers good value for the price?

Not sure

Are you happy with Looker's feature set?

Yes

Did Looker live up to sales and marketing promises?

I wasn't involved with the selection/purchase process

Did implementation of Looker go as expected?

I wasn't involved with the implementation phase

Would you buy Looker again?

Yes

Based on my experience in a very large organisation where we have an analytics team and they need to share this data throughout the business in many global teams, Looker is well suited and appropriate. It means that people can self-serve the data they need at any time of day and don't need to hassle the team. It also means we can establish pre-set dashboards and reporting so that we can reduce duplication of work and speed up reporting time; thanks to integrations the data is there in always-on Looker studio reports for us to view.
