Overall Satisfaction with Looker
Looker is our BI choice for our Google software and services. It is the simplest way to create dashboards and Business Intelligence reporting for your Google marketing and advertising endeavors. Although there are many, many similar pieces of software on the market, we have found that no other reporting system provides feeds from our YouTube, Google Search Console, Analytics, and Google AdSense all in one tight package.
Pros
- Reports from Google software and services data feeds
- Creating simple, clean dashboards
- Better reporting than AdWords or Google Analytics.
Cons
- Documentation is scarce, and very difficult to find when you need it.
- Pricing is unclear, particularly as you look to scale your reports across the business.
- Data from other sources is not represented in the system as well as first party Google services.
- Looker has helped us centralize our reporting on AdWords, Analytics, and YouTube to create marketing dashboards to help keep those KPIs on track.
- Looker's free tier did not require money or even much time to set up our initial reports - a very pleasant surprise.
- Built in templates for common Google Services helped us make initial working dashboards to stakeholder feedback quickly.
In my opinion, Looker is no Power BI. It is good, but I think Power BI is amazing. That said, in my experience, Power BI is nowhere near as easy to setup and report on Google services as Looker is. We plan to continue using Power BI for c-suite and corporate reporting, especially for internal databases, but will gladly use Looker for our marketing information for AdWords, Analytics, Search Console, and YouTube.
