Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We have multiple uses of mParticle

as the hub that sends data to all other platforms - GA, Braze, Snowflake, Branch, FB and Google Ads .

As the activation platform to create and share audiences

As a data governance tool

Pros

 • Audience creation
 • Data forwarding
 • Data governance
 • ID Sync

Cons

 • The lag is really bad. There is no way to do real-time targteing

Likelihood to Recommend

It just does its job. Very basic. Reporting is minimum. Error messages don't provide any details to self trouble shoot.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

This is our main customer data platform where we funnel multiple data sources into specific downstream tools/platforms.

Pros

 • Ease of setting up connections
 • Consistent data flow
 • No missing data issues

Cons

 • Support - often times it feels like they're trying to create a sales opportunity rather than actually provide support - whether it's technical or non-technical.
 • Some connection setups are not as consistent with respect to the procedure of setting up the connection, e.g. setting user identities in Braze.
 • Audiences...definitely not as robust as Amplitude

Likelihood to Recommend

mParticle is very well suited for a company trying to funnel data without creating its own proprietary data pipeline/infrastructure.

mParticle provides the capability to collect and syndicate customer data in secure way through several integrations with our technology partners and vendors. The added flexibility of filters to transform or remove data from feeds, or leverage AWS Lambda functions makes it easy to only send the data we need, in the right format. We are also able to leverage their Data Privacy Controls to support our compliance with regulations and laws.

Pros

 • 200+ Integrations
 • Flexibility around what data to send (filters, rules, AWS Lambda)
 • Data Plans and data quarantining

Cons

 • UI improvements
 • More advanced querying interface within the UI
 • Livestream for production data

Likelihood to Recommend

mParticle is a flexible solution for data syndication between myriad inputs and outputs to different and disparate systems.

MParticle - works well overall for our particular use case

Rating: 5 out of 10

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use MParticle to port segments we create through ADP to our respective platforms. These are ACR segments that are valuable for our digital campaigns.

Pros

 • Easy to use
 • Links to multiple platforms
 • Good customer service

Cons

 • could have a better troubleshooting guide
 • errors aren't explained well
 • the monthly limits based on MTUs

Likelihood to Recommend

I believe my team only has MParticle for a particular use case, so I can't really say for other scenarios where it is less appropriate. For our needs, Mparticle works well in order to port the audiences we need to most of our necessary platforms. The drop off isn't too significant either, so these audiences are scalable which is important as well.

Great to ensure trustworthiness of your data.

Rating: 8 out of 10
Incentivized

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

To support a wide variety of customer journeys, we collect user behavior data from our apps, backend, and external services. mParticle helps us to ensure we have accurate and trustworthy data to drive those journeys. It checks all incoming customer data to match our data plan and only forwards data that is valid. All or parts of the data are then forwarded to external services we use for user behavior analysis, sending customer journey notifications, and many more.

Pros

 • Ensure trustworthiness of data.
 • Connect different data sources at a central point.
 • Allow to define where data should be sent to.
 • Debug any data related issues that come from bugs in internal or external services.

Cons

 • Some documentation can be improved — incredibly best practices when connecting external services.

Likelihood to Recommend

If you can't trust the data you get into your customer journey service or user behavior analysis tool, mParticle can make a difference quickly. We used it to great success getting from untrustworthy data to reliable data in no time. If you already have a great data pipeline or use a user behavior analysis tool that includes checks for ensuring the trustworthiness of data, you might not need mParticle. If you have a lot of external or internal services you need to connect to your customer data, then mParticle is definitely worth looking at.

mParticle is a great choice for a CDP

Rating: 9 out of 10
Incentivized

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use mParticle as our central CDP along with a variety of inbound & outbound data integrations powering our data platform. Inbound integrations include our mobile app, web app, and backend services. Outbound integrations include Mixpanel, Branch, Algolia, Iterable, S3 and custom webhooks. We rely on mParticle to receive and ship data between various services that operate the business.

Pros

 • Great Accelerator program for Startup companies
 • Best-in-class customer/technical support
 • Easy management of inbound & outbound data stream integrations

Cons

 • Debugging data issues via the dashboard
 • Audience/dashboard functionality
 • Moonshot: Being able to express integration configuration via code!

Likelihood to Recommend

Do not integrate multiple analytics / customer messaging / download attribution SDKs into your mobile or web apps, duplicating data and risking a fragemented view of the customer. Instead integrate mParticle as a CDP, and configure the necessary integrations which will enable you to progress towards a world of the single-view of the customer.

Also works great to import historical data into a newly onboarded/integrated tool.

Its great... If you use it 100%

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We initially started using Mparticle as a CDP. Starting using it to ingest first-party events from the mobile apps and use the Service to service integrations to ingest data from our APIs. The main use case was to sync data downstream to other 3rd party applications like Iterable, mParticle, etc.

Pros

 • Forwarding Data.
 • Built in connectors.
 • Easy to use interface.

Cons

 • UI for events for customers takes time to update, its unreliable.
 • Hard to inspect the data once its inputted.
 • Not possible to link data with other non-customer related data.

Likelihood to Recommend

If you have a small/medium company with no data & Insights team or a very small engineering team, it could work to connect the different apps and consolidate your customer data in one place. As soon as it starts growing and requirements become more complex to link external data.

mParticle solves critical data needs and helps you get the most from downstream vendors.

Rating: 10 out of 10
Incentivized

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Our company leverages mParticle to ingest data from multiple client-facing platforms and backend services. This allows us to properly aggregate all our data into a single source of truth. We then are able to utilize this data downstream for customer engagement, analytics, and other technical event-driven needs(ie, feature flags).

Pros

 • Collect customer data from multiple sources.
 • Integrated with wide breadth of vendors and verticals.
 • Helps track unregistered user data into registered user data.

Cons

 • As more partners are integrated often takes communication between both companies to properly implement. Helping solve more of this cross-communication tech implementation through more detailed documentation would smooth the process out even more.

Likelihood to Recommend

Works well for multiple platforms. Easy to aggregate all your data across multiple platforms into a single source of truth. Integrates with many downstream vendors making it easier to get the most out of your partners( customer engagement platforms, analytics, attribution, feature flagging, etc.). The interface takes some time to get used to in the mParticle dashboard, but the support from the mParticle team is always responsive and available to solve all needs!
