The most complete ERP you can find

Rating: 9 out of 10

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

It is our ERP for daily use, in which we record the purchases we make, the sales we make to our clients, the quotes that we send them according to the requirements that our clients make to us daily, we also manage our product inventory and additionally we also manage our merchandising stock that we use for the visits made by people from the sales department when they are trying to attract new clients. It has helped us to have more order in the sense that before we made quotes in Excel files and sometimes we lost the files, with Odoo the saving is automatic, simpler, there are no complications

Pros

  • The creation of products is extremely simple, I like that it does not complicate you to put a lot of detail, of course if you want to put more detailed information later it allows you to do it without problems
  • The fact that I can manage my inventory of my warehouse is very convenient, I only generate my stock report of the products we have in stock and taking inventory is easier
  • The management of opportunities in the CRM is also great, because the guys from the sales department generate their opportunity, place what their client is requiring and we, the logisticians, can automatically generate the quote for what they are requesting, and from there they can only download their quote and send it to their clients.

Cons

  • We are currently testing Odoo with another provider and it has some more functions than the previous version that we were using, and something that I see perhaps that could be improved would be in the projects part, where the tasks carried out are recorded, it would be great if perhaps there was a counter that tells you the start time and when you finish your task, click again and it will be more accurate
  • Another detail to improve from my point of view would be when generating the electronic guides, although we have a good order, it sometimes happens that the same system separates certain products and makes jumps in the correlatives of the guide numbers, and this could generate inconveniences if we have an audit, this happens if a purchase order is confirmed today, for example but the guide is generated in 2 weeks, the day the order was confirmed I set aside a guide number but At the time of generating said guide, it takes the following correlative that corresponds, making us lose the guide number set out at the beginning.
  • And another point to improve or well it is a point that I have seen that should be improved is that sometimes when the release guide for a product is being issued, this product is not discounted from the actual inventory stock, I don't know if it is an internal error, but it has been happening and it happened very frequently a couple of years ago, the good thing is that we also keep an inventory in a separate cardex and in this way we can corroborate the exact reality

Likelihood to Recommend

Odoo is very convenient because in a single ERP you basically manage the entire operation of your company, from purchases, sales, inventory, projects, daily tasks, to payments and other accounting functions, it is a super complete tool that I particularly like a lot, because I know of others that are much more complicated because each function is in different applications. Now something that would perhaps be brilliant as a point of improvement for the accounting department, would be that if we receive a purchase and attach the guide or invoice for that purchase to Odoo, it is immediately copied to the accounting module and there is no need to download the document and enter it manually, for me it would be a plus if that could be improved

A powerful all in one tool that just needs some customization.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use Odoo for the entirety of our backend workflows. Engineering, Sales, Production, Inventory, and shipping are all handled in Odoo's different modules to ensure a centralized data center of truth. The only area we do not use is marketing/ email management. This is an area we are currently working on building out now that we have built out the majority of the applications.

I personally work in sales and primarily work within the Sales and CRM modules to track new leads and convert to sales and close. Occasional use of inventory to check on stock levels or shipping needs.

Pros

  • The activity function is very effective in ensuring that work is effectively handed off between the different departments or as simple reminders.
  • Overall application design is easy to follow and understand.
  • invoicing and sales order system work well for our needs. except in the case of making some edits like removing an item from the sales order lines.

Cons

  • I would like to see easier to configure email templates that do not require a coding background to edit / manipulate.
  • The Email to CRM pipeline often has issues pulling from our shared gmail inbox. I like how emails show on sales order or invoice history
  • We struggle alot with duplicate customer profiles and find that it is hard to keep a company profile organized when there are multiple private emails associated with that company.

Likelihood to Recommend

It is well suited for inventory tracking, shipping and sales work flows. While some customization is needed to make it functional, if done correctly Odoo can serves as a powerful one stop shop for all of a businesses needs.

The ease of customization for email templates, both for sales communications and marketing outreach leaves something to be desired. Perhaps our team hasn't explored this fully enough. I have personally found it intimidating in trying to construct a news letter using the email marketing module.

Finding Customization Excellence with Odoo

Rating: 10 out of 10
Incentivized

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use Odoo for reporting & accounting purposes. We are a conveyor belting shop that works with an extensive inventory, and we have found Odoo to be an excellent platform for managing inventory, processing orders, bills, invoices, etc., and reconciling our accounts. The main apps that we work with are accounting, sales, purchase, and inventory, but we have others for reference as well.

Pros

  • Managing Inventory- especially working with landed costs
  • Reporting- Balance Sheet, P&L, Cash Flow, etc.
  • Bank Reconciliation

Cons

  • Connecting Sales & Purchase to track the flow of outside orders
  • End of year closing procedures
  • Inventory Valuation procedures

Likelihood to Recommend

We used to use SAP Business One and found it very difficult and expensive to make any modifications to specifically fit our business needs- Odoo is very adaptive- any business that feels that it has a unique set up for inventory or sales processes, Odoo is the best for crafting a unique, personalized approach to accounting for your business needs.

The only scenario that I would say wouldn't be the best is if you are company that needs to "close" months and periods- Odoo is set up to be able to continuously look back to prior periods and still make adjustments, which can be difficult if a transaction occurs that you don't realize will affect a prior period and then you have to amend reports.

Customizable ERP that's affordable.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use Odoo as our sales, accounting, manufacturing, service and inventory control system. We had several less efficient systems in place prior and with Odoo we have been able to combine them into one. We also like it because there is a communications system built in. You can tag people in messages and assign activities. It makes it very helpful to reenforce the importance of communication amongst the teams.

Pros

  • Easy to add or archive product.
  • Sorts customer information easily.
  • Integrates with other programs like slack.

Cons

  • We had to work with an implementation team to customize Odoo into something that could truly work for us.
  • I would like to be able to run some reports in an easier way.
  • We did have to implement the use of an iOT box as well for something like printing barcode stickers.

Likelihood to Recommend

Over-all, due to the customizations we were able to make to Odoo, we were able to make it work for our company. We are a company of only about 45 people and I think Odoo can support smaller companies like ours. I don't think it would suit larger corporations with large warehouses. So I gave it a 7 because for the price of the base product and the implementation team, I feel we got what we need. It took us almost a year of meetings and discussions and playing around in a sandbox version to get where we could launch it and then almost another year after the launch of tweaks and changes and support from the team.

Odoo for SMB.

Rating: 1 out of 10
Incentivized

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use Odoo to manage our sales, inventory, manufacturing work orders, service orders, and accounting.

Pros

  • Great flexibility in manufacturing assembly for a low cost.
  • Very open and flexible system.
  • Integrates with many other systems.

Cons

  • Customer service is nonexistent. You will need a 3rd party to assist you.
  • The system has an open app for integrating with other programs. These are developed by third parties and can be hit or miss in functionality.
  • The system offers great flexibility; however, it is too much and requires coding. For example, changing a Sales order PDF requires coding to modify the document.
  • Initial implementation is clunky and seems to require a 3rd party just for setup.

Likelihood to Recommend

Implementation was a terrible experience for us. Because it required a third party, we ended up way over budget and schedule. While Odoo advertises that it works with many systems, these third-party integrations often don't work out of the box and require extensive coding to set up. Furthermore, these "apps" can frequently break or lose integration.

We are using Odoo for Sales and Inventory which seamlessly integrates with the products on the websites. This means the Sales teams effectively manage the products on the back end and front end is automatically maintained.

Pros

Cons

  • It would be great if one could load Marketplace Modules on Odoo.online
  • Documentation is lacking for customers that want to do self-serivce on Odoo.online
  • Not having product dimensions as standard feature is a major downfall

Likelihood to Recommend

Odoo is well priced for small teams and negotiable on enterprise level.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use it as our ERP system. We will also be using it as our POS.

Pros

  • Manufacturing orders.
  • Support
  • Shipping

Cons

  • POS is missing a lot of functionality.
  • Can be glitchy.
  • Seems to do MOST of everything. But has gaps.

Likelihood to Recommend

It does seem to be getting better now that Odoo Corp is getting more involved. It is good in manufacturing but not in POS.

Odoo has made quotes/sales orders a breeze!

Rating: 8 out of 10
Incentivized

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use Odoo as our CRM and sales software. It gives us an easily accessible, centralized hub to view information pertaining to all aspects of the sales process including production and billing. That way, if a customer calls with a question about an order that I was not in charge of, I am still able to see where we are in the process and what the conversation has been between them and their sales rep. Super convenient and helpful!

Pros

  • Customer contact information
  • Quotations and sales orders
  • Invoicing and inventory management

Cons

  • Production information and organization
  • Cost of goods/margin calculation
  • Tax exemption

Likelihood to Recommend

Odoo fits what we need to make quotes and take orders. Customer information is easily organizable and searchable which makes it convenient to pull up a list of someone's previous orders. This is very important for us to make sure the customer is getting the same size/specs on their flags and hardware.

In my opinion, dishonourable company

Rating: 1 out of 10

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

In my opinion, What a horrible company! The first interaction I had with the human at this company was to tell me that the purchase we made was too little and that they were going to charge us double or erase everything we've done! When they spoke to me, they claimed that their website charged the wrong amount because our company operates in different countries and therefore they would be doubling the price. He then stated that they were allowed to do this because their terms of service so that they can change the price and less specified in writing. However, when we made the purchase it was specified in writing exactly how much we would have to pay. I guess they don't honour their own terms of service. I think this company has certainly earned the poor score and bad reviews it has... I saw that before purchasing and figured that we would be fine since I would just rely on the fact that I was never going to deal with anyone at the company. However, not so. In my experience, the company had such poor customer service that I think they would be better off to just get rid of all of the people and make it purely software, I think at least then you would know what you get...

Pros

  • In my opinion, software works fine as long as you don't need to interact with their people

Cons

  • In my opinion, terrible customer service
  • In my experience, they don't even honour their own terms of service
  • In my opinion, untrustworthy

Likelihood to Recommend

I think if this Company got rid of their customer service team and made it purely software, then at least you would know what you get as the software would honour its programming.
