Synoptix Review

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use Synoptix as a report writer. All end users who need access to our ERP data use Synoptix to view said data. Our ERP does not have quality reports built in and Synoptix allows us to build custom reports that address our reporting needs.

  • Allows for easy accessibility control for end users
  • Simple interface
  • Great customer service and technical support

Cons

  • I wish there were some features from Excel that were included
  • Sometimes difficult to have both desktop and web versions be separate
  • Printed reports don't always look as good as when they are on the screen

  • Has been a great resource for reporting and information sharing
  • Reasonable pricing has allowed us to stick with Synoptix for a long time

Advanced Reporting by Synoptix

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use the advanced reporting software. This is fully integrated with our ERP solution, (M2M) and used mostly for financial reporting. It is used by our general managers, plant managers, purchasing, and accounting. This product works well - consistently! It is very unusual that we need tech support, but when we do, they are right on! We use the product for multiple locations and do comparative statements locally. You would NEVER know that the data wasn't stored on the machine sitting next to me as quick and reliable as this solution is to pull in the data from separate servers in separate states! (Including the drill-down detail.) Love it!

Pros

  • Very easy to write reports.
  • Upgrades process has been automated and requires almost zero effort! (no IT involvement required).
  • Drilldown function a breeze and provides instant results to the layperson for our financials.

Cons

  • I'd love to see a drill down by the financial statement line-item that provides all the detail for that line item immediately, rather than drilling down on individual transactions within the account.

Return on Investment

  • Our owners and managers want reports that are customized to their needs. This software allows users, not programmers, users to easily build a report in an "excel-like" environment. The report can be easily modified to meet new requests.
  • The export to excel function works exactly how you'd hope. Simply menu option, export to excel, and bam! there it is, with formulas and all the formatting, perfect and in about 30 seconds.
  • As a Controller, or CFO, my month-end closing performance is measured based on how successful I can consistent generate timely and accurate, reliable financials. I love this software, it's been integral to my personal success.

I use it as a financial tool. My current operating system doesn't show the accounts on the screen and I use Synotpix to run totals. I also use Synoptix to see if accounts are valid and if I am needing to create new accounts. I am learning how to prepare the financial statements in it as well.

  • I can see the accounts that I enter into the system
  • I like that it can create and use excel functions for reporting
  • Validate accounts

Cons

  • I don't like using many buttons to click into a window.
  • It isn't really user friendly - am using the desktop not the cloud

Return on Investment

  • I don't know the cost to compare the ROI, I know that I use Synoptix
  • when I can't see the data I should in my current ERP
