Overall Satisfaction with Acquia Digital Experience Platform

Our brand website is hosted on Acquia [Digital Experience Platform]. We have just begun moving our corporate website there as well. In addition, the development team is just transitioning to the Cloud IDE for development (from using Docksal/Docker and PhpStorm). We have longer-term plans to move other web properties to Drupal/Acquia as well.
  • Dashboard makes deploys simple
  • Automatically created dev and stage environments are useful
  • IDE promises to simplify employee onboarding and dev environment setup in general
  • The technical support is exceptionally good.
  • Some setup issues with using IDE with external code repo
  • Naming of environment URLs is a little confusing/inconsistent
  • Drupal itself has enabled us to build a rich editor experience that our non-technical marketing team appreciates
  • The ability to focus more on development and less on technical infrastructure allowed my team to execute a complete site redesign in 6 months
The decision to host on Acquia [Digital Experience Platform] was made before I joined the company, so no insight here.
We do not use any of the proprietary features from Acquia [Digital Experience Platform], like Site Factory, that enable this. (I am allergic to proprietary.) But Drupal is inherently scaleable via multisite, and things like Single Sign On via contrib modules.
The VPS/cPanel solution is just "raw" LAMP stack hosting, so nothing Drupal-specific and no automatically set-up multiple dev environments with a dashboard to manage them. This is what I [have done] for the last 15 years for my clients. For one client, we evaluated Pantheon, and I would have been happy to go with them, but Acquia [Digital Experience Platform] had a better reputation for security and support. I never got to migrate that client to Pantheon (still too pricey), so my experience is only cursory.

Do you think Acquia Digital Experience Platform delivers good value for the price?

Yes

Are you happy with Acquia Digital Experience Platform's feature set?

Yes

Did Acquia Digital Experience Platform live up to sales and marketing promises?

I wasn't involved with the selection/purchase process

Did implementation of Acquia Digital Experience Platform go as expected?

I wasn't involved with the implementation phase

Would you buy Acquia Digital Experience Platform again?

Yes

The only reason I don't give Acquia [Digital Experience Platform] a 10 is [the] price. Acquia [Digital Experience Platform] is a premium service, and the cost reflects that. I am extremely happy that I work for a company that can afford such a flexible, scalable, and secure platform. In fact, it influenced my decision to take the position with the company, to begin with. However, in my previous role running a small web dev agency with many government, academic, and non-profit clients, Acquia hosting was consistently out of reach for our clients. I have been extremely happy with the service and support from Acquia over the last two years and look forward to continuing the relationship for many more. On a last note, one of the things I appreciate most about Acquia [Digital Experience Platform] is their support of Drupal as an open-source project and the contributions the company makes to the community, both in terms of code/documentation, etc., and of raising the profile of Drupal as [an] enterprise-quality platform.
