Overall Satisfaction with ActivTrak

We use ActivTrak to track productivity of our teams. We also use it to ensure that during work from home days, our employees are working during the proper times. It also helps flag when work computers are being used for non-work purposes.

Pros

  • Easily provides real time tracking of employee computers
  • Tracks the amount of usage per application. This helps us determine that applications value.
  • Host monthly training sessions and showcases new updates. Makes it easy to stay informed.

Cons

  • Simplification of labels - it can be difficult to navigate due labels having confusing names.
  • I have teams in two time zones and I wish it was easier to navigate between the two.
  • It would be nice to have different logins for team managers that just show them their team vs the entire org.
  • Positively - it makes it very easy to subjectively track employee computer use.
  • Positive - Able to highlight application usage to C-Suite team and showcase actual data on if the tool is being used.
  • Positive - Offers enhanced security by being able to view what sites, and set up alerts for banned sites.
  • Real time visibility - when an employee isn't responding to messages, we can see if they are actively on their computer during WFH days.
  • Hour worked in a day/week metrics. Can compare productivity of team members and see if they are working their 40 hours.
  • Productive/vs un productive site categorization. Easily keeps an eye on what sites employees are using.
It has made employees aware that they are being tracked and flagged for idle work outside of break times. It has helped WFH accountability and kept productivity going. It also helps gives insights on how long people are working on certain tasks. We have been able to track individuals "gaming" the system, such as entering a meeting as the only individual to appear "busy". By showing the screen being idle we can course correct these behaviors.
It gives us visibility to see how much someone is working vs another. This helps us see who may need a support team member, or who may need coaching on how to better complete tasks. For salaried workers it helps us see if they are working on the weekends as well, so we can flag if additional support is needed.
It gives us visibility on usage of technology. It doesn't necessarily give us a look at workflows, but we can see the time being used on different applications.

Overall, I recommend ActivTrak. I think the pricing is very reasonable for all that you get. I like the monthly calls, they are well done and informative. I think there is a bit of a learning curve, due to so many tabs and confusing names for things. If it was a bit easier to navigate I'd recommend them more.
