Overall Satisfaction with Acumatica
I enter construction invoices as bills in payables, and track payments. I enter subcontracts and link to projects and vendors. I enter compliance documents and link to vendors, projects, customers and subcontracts. I release retainage invoices using the Release AP Retainage module. I run reports in the Bills and Adjustments , the Release AP Retainage, and Complaince document modules.
Pros
- User friendly, easy to enter information, to understand what info is needed
- Highly adaptable, to show what content you need on a page, to display what works for you
- I like how you can release percentages of retainage invoices -- this is application to real world needs
Cons
- Compliance Module needs to be broken down into branches of the company
- It is a cumbersome process to add Change Orders to Subcontracts
- If retainage invoices are deemed not to be released due to insufficient work or not meeting expectations, not an easy way to remove from AP retainage, especially if there are a large number of invoices for one vendor
- I understand that we are investing in personnel training to become Admin and learn how to more fully incorporate the robust offerings to tailor to our needs
- I am not part of conversations that would lend to understanding of ROI
Other
Soon we will be able to utilize compliance to track Certificates of Insurance expiration dates for both internal and external customers -- an important component of projects.
Construction projects have a customer, a client (our company), subcontractors, multiple contracts, and many documents to track such as invoices for payments and contractual documents like change orders and lien waivers and compliance documents like COI's and W-9's. From beginning to end, there are many unforeseen changes that happen along the way. Being able to add and subtract components to different modules, as well as update documents without being blocked or getting error messages is important. Acumatica meets the basic needs, but needs work to find the flexibility and additional work arounds needed to absorb changes and updates.
The company I worked for was in the produce industry, and had different needs than [...] as a design/build/maintain fiber construction company.
