Overall Satisfaction with Adobe Acrobat

We use it to open and edit all of our pdf files, which include invoices, bills of quantities, etc. But also to sign documents. It is also being used on all of our platfoms, so all Windows, Android and iPhone devices which are enrolled via Intune. The app is automatically being pushed to the devices and used as a primary way of opening and handling pdf files. The benefit of this is all-round compatibility and correct formatting of pdf's accross all device groups.

Pros

  • Cross-platform support. Pdf's look exactly the same across all device groups
  • Extensive editing features in comparison to other products
  • Scanned documents can be edited and the ocr works quite well, even if the source material isn't perfect

Cons

  • It feels like a heavy app that needs longer to start up in comparison to other pdf editors, I feel like it take up more resources as well
  • It is quite expensive, just like other Adobe products
  • Our not-so-technical users find it to be a bit complex or overwhelming and need some time to get into it
  • A pretty much all-in-one tool that everyone uses across al devices, so less issues with wrong formatting. This saves time for the end user and well as our It team which saves money of course because they can focus on their core tasks.
  • Sometimes OCR fails to recognize text correctly, when we receive documents in poor quality, resulting in latency processing the invoices
  • Most of the time OCR succeeds in reading text correctly, increasing the productivity of our accounting department and we can process invoices.
  • Our older devices are having difficulties with opening multiple Adobe Acrobat sessions, slowing down work for multitaskers
  • Licensing is quite expensive so it is using up a chunk of our IT budget
  • Cloud Solutions
  • Integration with Other Systems
  • Ease of Use
Reliability and consistency across Windows, Android and iPhone (mixed with productivity benefits like the OCR capabilities and document signing). We had a mix of pdf reading/editing software before. The issue was that document didn't look the same if they were made on Adobe Acrobat and opened with Foxit or Google Drive PDF reader/editor for example. Now we no longer have these issues.
The digital signatures are being used on a daily (even hourly sometimes) basis here. The fact that there are audit trials showing the identity, the time when they signed, etc is an added bonus in case we get an audit. Also altering a document after signing is not possible, avoiding fraudulence.
Foxit doesn't really have the ecosystem that Adobe Acrobat has, and since we are using multiple Adobe products, they all integrate well with one another. The OCR is also more powerful and accurate. So although Foxit has a lower cost to it and is also more light weight and less resources heavy, it just doesn't cut it feature wise.

Do you think Adobe Acrobat delivers good value for the price?

Yes

Are you happy with Adobe Acrobat's feature set?

Yes

Did Adobe Acrobat live up to sales and marketing promises?

I wasn't involved with the selection/purchase process

Did implementation of Adobe Acrobat go as expected?

I wasn't involved with the implementation phase

Would you buy Adobe Acrobat again?

Yes

It is less appropriate as a lightweight and fast merging tool. For creating our bill of quantities, 400 pdf's need to be merged to one as part of a macro. This is not possible with Adobe Acrobat, or at least not in a fast way that consumes a lot of resources. For this we are currently using PDFtk which is lightning fast in merging these pdf's.
