Overall Satisfaction with Adobe PhotoShop
Photoshop is a very important part of my photography workflow. It is used as a major step in giving my photos a finished and stylized look. I also use it to correct minor imperfections in lighting as well as cleaning up backgrounds. I use it in secondary parts of my business to create training materials, books, and web graphics.
- Cleaning: PS is particularly well suited for cleaning surfaces, backgrounds, and even clothing. The clone and stamp tools are far more advanced than other options.
- Organization: Using PS within the Adobe ecosystem makes organizing projects as well as your body of work quite easy.
- Panels: The layout of PS is completely customizable using panels. I have separate setups for editing, lighting, and retouching. These can be recalled with one click.
- Bloating: I have noticed that in later versions the program itself is becoming a little heavier and slower to open. It is also becoming a little more resource-intensive.
- Subscription: While I love the subscription concept to make upgrades easier, there are few options for subscribing. I would also like to see fewer frequent updates.
- Integration
- Toolset
- Update process.
- The subscription model is cost effective and allows me to stay up to date.
- Increased speed of delivery has had a positive effect on my bottom line.
- The number of tools available keeps me creative rather than bogged down in process.
GIMP could be one of the closes competitors to Photoshop. While it is incredibly full-featured, in my use, it is not nearly as powerful. This is especially true in the development of background recognition, object replacement, and other filters based on artificial intelligence. I find that Photoshop does a better job of allowing you to customize your own individual workflow. For me, the cost difference associated with the choice is worth paying to get the extras that Photoshop has to offer.
