APS Payroll Is A Great Payroll Partner
Overall Satisfaction with APS Payroll
We use APS Payroll to process our payroll and to also file and pay our payroll taxes. APS Payroll registers our business in new states when we acquire remote employees. Employees use the eSelfServe feature for clocking in and out. We also use them for our hiring (APS Hire) and our benefits (elections, hiring, termination, etc). APS Payroll also handles our W2s and 1095s.
Pros
- Payroll Calculation And Processing
- Tax Calculation And Processing
- Time Recording
- Reporting
Cons
- The GL function is more complex than need be and needs a TON of manual setup; making changes is very time consuming.
- The Holiday setup is completely manual (every year) but could be a little more automated, such as allowing you to select "every Thanksgiving/Memorial/Labor day" as holidays; those such as Christmas and New Years which fall on different days could have a policy such as "if on a weekend, date the previous Friday" or something.
- The timeclock feature does not alert employees if they have missed a punch, and they won't see it unless they view their timecard. A simple notification on the eSelfServe screen when they go to clock in would be very beneficial.
- Having our hiring, timecard, benefits, and pay all in one makes it easy to keep things connected across platforms and reduces duplicate efforts, reducing manhours needed to handle the payroll process, such as not needing to import time from external clocking software, not needing to enter new hires manually, not needing to add employee benefit selections manually, etc.
- APS Payroll is a reasonably priced payroll solution, which allows our company to remain competitive and we have saved payroll costs over other platforms that were more expensive and provided less.
We used Intuit Payroll when we used Quickbooks, then Paychex when we left Quickbooks, and APS Payroll has been the best of them as far as price, the ease of use, and the ability to do what we need.
