Overall Satisfaction with Atlassian Confluence

Overall we use Confluence for documentation purposes. It's our main channel of documentation for most departments. As far as I know, it's used by Engineering, IT, Product Management, Marketing, etc. It provides good UI for documentation and good access control, as well as widget(plug-ins) if additional supports are required.
  • Very user friendly UI for documentation.
  • Various plug-ins to choose from which fits most of our needs.
  • Comes with decent search engine for quick discovery.
  • Since we have thousands of pages, Confluence is very slow when loading page navigation panel (on the left side of screen). It seems like it's trying to load ALL pages while most user are only interested in a subset of pages that are relative to a couple of topics. May use some optimization or lazy loading on navigations.
  • It would be nice to be able to jump to a bookmarked page without going to dashboard first.
  • On-page-edit without going to EDIT mode for some simple text changes.
  • Increased employee efficiency
  • Improved communication across teams
  • Provide useful archive of meeting minutes.
Confluence's UI is very user friendly. I have never heard people complain about the usability of it. Also there are many plug-ins to choose from which suits advanced users' needs. I am not familiar with the pricing, but switching a CMS is naturally very expensive.
It's useful to document product or process types of information, but it's not a perfect fit for code-related docs since code changes faster than documentation.
