Overall Satisfaction with Atlassian Confluence

Confluence is our dedicated area for meeting notes, processes, and written deliverables for both agency internal use and our clients. It solves the need for a single hub for all notes so that everyone can stay productive and know where to find any important document. Our agency has a space for each client plus several internal-facing spaces, which makes it easy to connect all our documents to Jira, our project management system.

Pros

  • Confluence pages are easy to create and have streamlined functionality that is well beyond what a typical Microsoft Word or Google Doc offers.
  • Confluence helps our team stay organized with spaces for clients and parent pages, which also act as folders and pages that are easy to find through search.
  • Tying pages to action items is charming, as key team members are alerted when they have specific to-dos from a client meeting, whether or not they were involved. They can go straight to the notes document for additional context or a reminder.

Cons

  • I think collaboration could be a little bit better. It's not clear when someone else may be editing the same document as you.
  • Additional formatting options would be good to have, such as fonts, line spacing, font weight, or being able to copy formatting like the format painter tool in Word.
  • Confluence saves us a ton of time in note-taking and drafting recommendations for marketing initiatives and helps us stay on top of to-dos that come from meetings so we can go above and beyond in delivering for our clients. This allows us to maintain good client relationships and continue selling more work.
  • Confluence makes it easy to create standardized processes, making us efficient and consistent for our clients so we can do better work and renew our contracts with them.
It is incredibly easy to use, and the functionality is more dynamic than a typical word processor. I have never run into any bugs. The interface is clean, and everything is accessible with just a few clicks. Finding the page you are looking for is simple, and sharing pages with our clients is easy.

Do you think Atlassian Confluence delivers good value for the price?

Yes

Are you happy with Atlassian Confluence's feature set?

Yes

Did Atlassian Confluence live up to sales and marketing promises?

I wasn't involved with the selection/purchase process

Did implementation of Atlassian Confluence go as expected?

I wasn't involved with the implementation phase

Would you buy Atlassian Confluence again?

Yes

Confluence has been best for me as a note-keeping tool, but it is much more diverse than that. Since it is for creating pages, not just Word documents, it has more dynamic functionality to help visualize information better. For example, creating tables to show budgets or calling out key pieces of information with an Info panel. I also love that it allows for action item bullets, so you can check off to-dos later without re-opening the page for editing. I would say Confluence is really best for teams and agencies. For individual use, it wouldn't be necessary.
