Overall Satisfaction with Atlassian Confluence
We use Confluence as a knowledge base for our projects, initiatives and products. Within our team Confluence allows us to structure information in a tree structure much like in an email service but collaborative. We will store everything from requirements to release notes in Confluence and ensure it is accessible to only those who it's relevant to.
Pros
- Design freedom within a Confluence page
- I can add Jira tickets to Confluence pages
- Easily organise pages into groups
Cons
- I'd like to see more customisation options with templates and widgets
- A documents register that you can show and hide documents in a Confluence page
- We no longer rely on easily outdated word documents which go missing or can become corrupt. More confidence in knowing our information is safe and secure = time saving
- It has enabled sharing of specific Confluence a pages between teams in our organisation. We have a standardised approach.
SharePoint is use by our operational teams as it allows team sites to be set up with links heading out to other resources. It is almost like a central hub or intranet. Confluence doesn't quite work in the same way however it does a better job functioning as a knowledge base.
