Overall Satisfaction with Atlassian Jira
We use Atlassian Jira to visualize the work in progress within teams, plan across teams and programs, and handling service requests from customers
Pros
- visualizing work in progress
- visualizing the status of the work in progress
- handling service request tickets
Cons
- allowing to show multiple people collaborating on a single story
- epics sidebar should stay static when sometimes dragging stories from backlog to a particular epic, the list of epics can jump and can be difficult to get back to the epic you wanted to drag and drop a story into that epic
- can be difficult to use a template without impacting other teams you share the same program with
- Teams get a better view of big picture what they have accomplished
- teams get a better understanding if they are becoming more or less effective
- Things don't get lost between teams as easily
Atlassian Jira is a very different tool than OpsGenie and Confluence. OpsGenie excellences in the current work in progress and visualizing the trends of how the work is getting done, but it really doesn't function as a longterm repository of a knowledgebase, instead that is Confluence. And while it does a good job with issue tracking OpsGenie is a better tool for the ops functionality of alerting team members during on call, alerts, or major incidents.
