Overall Satisfaction with Avalara

Avalara is used across our organization and assists us in remitting the appropriate sales tax amount/file tax returns with states and local municipalities. Since Avalara keeps up with the constant evolving sales and use tax rules, it frees up our finance team's time to work on other initiatives!
  • Stays on top of state/municipality sales and use tax filings.
  • Is up to date with current tax rates that seem to be constantly changing!
  • Sometimes when we get questioned by a state on a tax filing, they take a long time to respond to our questions.
  • I wish they handled VAT like they handle sales and use tax. Instead, you need to use a third-party to file tax returns for VAT.
  • Number of staff required is reduced.
  • Timing spent calculating tax rates is minimal.

Managed returns filings have been a wonderful time saver for us!
Avalara is great for a company that doesn't have a distinct tax team within their accounting department to stay current with evolving tax laws. Avalara does not handle VAT filings internationally so you would still require an additional third-party to handle this.
