Overall Satisfaction with Avalara AvaTax

We use Avalara in our invoicing team to determine the proper sales tax to charge our customers.
  • It properly calculates sales tax.
  • Easy to use.
  • Excellent customer support -- I got a call back within 30 minutes on a Saturday.
  • Implementation was more complex than our VAR anticipated. In retrospect I should have used Avalara professional services.
  • I'd like the tool to be more simple to use -- in one recent example, we lost nexus in a state but I can't determine how to make that state non-taxable. With that said, I've had no training ... but would like it to be obvious.
  • Save hours calculating taxes
  • 100% confidence that the calculation is correct
Was more challenging to implement than anticipated, but we were happy at the final result.
  • NetSuite
Avalara integrates well with NetSuite, and is included on the NetSuite menu. I suspect it's relatively easy for an experienced integrator, but was challenging for a first time VAR.
Quite easy to use but making some changes are unobvious -- e.g. how to make a state non-taxable after losing nexus.
We only looked at Avalara. I was easily sold after a short chat with a sales rep. Fair price, well known product, no reason to look at others.
Well suited -- calculating tax on SaaS.
Less well suited -- we paid for filings but found it was simple enough for our office manager to do them, so won't renew.
