Overall Satisfaction with Avalara AvaTax

My company uses Avalara AvaTax to calculate sales tax for our US customers. The AvaTax service is connected into our NetSuite service via API and appropriately calculates sales tax and adds the tax to our customer invoices. We also use the AvaTax Returns team to file our monthly sales tax returns for the appropriate states.
  • AvaTax has a comprehensive list of tax codes. This list has helped us appropriately assign those codes to our products.
  • AvaTax makes it easy search for transactions in the software. It allows filtering by state, date, or document code.
  • The AvaTax support team is very helpful and responsive when questions do come up.
  • Avatax could handle the Chicago 7550 Non Possessory Lease Tax a little better. Currently it does properly calculate the tax, but it requires manual intervention at month end to ensure the Illinois sales tax filing is correct.
  • Reconciling to the GL could be improved.
  • AvaTax has reduced time spent on filing returns.
  • AvaTax has maintained our tax filings to ensure we are filing in a timely manner.
  • AvaTax Support has been very helpful when questions do come up.
AvaTax implementation was a success. Their implementation specialist guided us through the appropriate steps to implement in our NetSuite sandbox environment. After thoroughly testing, we easily implemented in our production environment. My suggestion is to review the applicable tax codes to ensure you use the correct ones.
  • We integrated AvaTax with our NetSuite accounting system. NetSuite handles our billing and GL accounting.
AvaTax is integrated with NetSuite. It currently calculates sales tax on sales tax on billing transactions. The implementation with NetSuite was a very simple and straightforward.
The AvaTax admin console is very user friendly. It is easy to search for transactions. It is easy to export reports.
My company uses the AvaTax Returns filing service to file our monthly sales tax returns. That service is extremely easy to use. My company has benefited from outsourcing that service by being able to keep our headcount at an efficient level.
We knew we wanted AvaTax from the start. Several people in our organization had previous experience with AvaTax and it was a very natural fit for us since we use NetSuite and are a SaaS company.
AvaTax works great with NetSuite. Combined with the AvaTax Returns service, my company is able to manage Sales Tax without having a dedicated sales tax accountant headcount. The data and reports are easy export and use for month end close and answering customer questions.
