Best tool for UX designers
Overall Satisfaction with Axure RP
We use Axure RP as our preferred tool of choice for the ux designers at an ecommerce online retailer. We use Axure RP to create project deliverables for various project stages like wireframes, prototypes, sitemaps, flowcharts, and personas for web, IOS and Android platforms. These deliverables are then presented and shared with developers, stakeholders and Project Managers for review.
Pros
- Created high fidelity wireframes
- Create HTML based interactive prototypes
- Allow for notes and annotations
- Allows for comments from reviewers
Cons
- Example site templates
- File size reduction
- Performance issues if the file is too big
- Less developer review revisions because the deliverable can be better communicated using interactions and notes
- Does not have the best collaboration hence more reviews might be needed to collaborate
- Increase in on time project deliverables due to spotting development problems at a wireframing stage.
Figma is a well known design tool but is heavily skewed towards creating pixel perfect UI interface designs and hence more suited to UI designers. Sketch and AdobeXd, similar to Figma have always been vector based software design tools which affords a designer more control over spacing, scaling and duplication of design assets. Axure RP serves a slightly different audience (ux designers)which requires very rapid wireframing (less than an hour) without thought to colors, font, spacing and padding.
