Overall Satisfaction with BigCommerce

BigCommerce is the platform used for my personal online store. It is also the platform used at a local business whose ecommerce I manage.

Pros

  • Professional looking templates
  • Great analytics tool
  • Good product inventory management

Cons

  • Invoices don't look the best
  • Their app is a little clunky
  • Advanced pricing not available on the variant level
  • BigCommerce has made it easier to analyze my business.
  • It is less expensive than Shopify because you don't need a ton of extra apps.
  • It has a better looking storefront with my free template than what I had with a paid Shopify template.

I know from managing a local business' online store that BigCommerce is capable of handling any business as it scales from small, local orders to many orders on a nationwide as well as international scale.
Shopify does not come with a lot of the features that BigCommerce does such as invoicing and good analytics. Instead you need to purchase an app for everything including printing invoices for your customers. They try to force you to use their Shopify payments system yet at any moment can deem you a "risk" for no known reason and hold all your funds. If you do not use Shopify payments, they charge a fee (on top of other merchant payment system fees) for every single order so that your monthly invoice quickly adds up. They have subpar analytics, do little to stop spam/bot traffic and their store templates do not look as professional as BigCommerce.
Very likely to recommend. Initially set my store up on Shopify since it was a very small fledgling business. I thought Shopify would be better since BigCommerce to me was more suited for the big guns. I was wrong! BigCommerce's free online store templates look much more professional than Shopify, and it has superior SEO capabilities, invoicing, and analytics.
