Overall Satisfaction with Blackbaud Raiser's Edge NXT

We are a mid-size midwest nonprofit with a $5mill budget and about $500k each year in contributions. We utilize Blackbaud Raiser's Edge NXT for record and gift management. We are using the most basic of features and are working to fully use it with full functionality. As Raiser's Edge customers for several years prior to Blackbaud Raiser's Edge NXT, previous implementations were not done well and thus we are still working to clean it up so that other functions can be used. The pieces we do use are great and helpful - but proper implementation is absolutely necessary to use fully.

  • Assistance with implementation without pricey extra packages
  • General on-going check-ins for maintenance outside of problem solving chats

  • Relationship management - specifically giving history

  • Increase in meaningful relationships
  • Increase in data tracking - meaningful data that tells the correct story
  • Ability to pull reports quicker for faster answers
Since the implementation of Blackbaud Raiser's Edge NXT, we have increased our data focus. The ability to quickly create dashboards to keep a finger on the pulse of donations and development activities is absolutely a game-changer for us. Better awareness of the activity of our donor base has allowed us to create more meaningful asks and appeals and know what is most effective for our specific donors.
  • Online Training
Online training is helpful, but not all that we needed (or still need) to fully use the products and functions within. Because of poor implementation of the original version of Raiser's Edge, we are still struggling since Blackbaud Raiser's Edge NXT implementation to use all functions available. It is the focus of the team for the next 18 months.

Overall, Blackbaud Raiser's Edge NXT is a great solution for the nonprofit that can afford it. It can be a great support to move development goals forward, but it is a serious expense. For smaller nonprofits, the full system may not be worthwhile, when other solutions may do similar functions without a price tag. If possible, it is a great solution with lots of extras to make relationship management easier.
