Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use Blackbaud Raiser's Edge NXT to look at the campaign/fund summary of dollars. We also try to use it for action items for our Advancement team members. We use the database view to update constituent profiles, create online express forms, and manage pledges and cash payments. We also use the database to generate mailing lists (hard mail and email) for various publications and communications throughout the year.

Pros and Cons

Pros

When you call customer support, most consultants will screen share with you to answer your question
Provides a wide option of payment options and gift types.

Cons

Forms cannot be used to capture basic information and update it to constituent records.
There is no way of incorporating your company logo on system-generated form emails that embed the eReceipt back to the donor. The fact that all acknowledgments have to be managed outside the system is interesting.
I feel that every time I call the help desk, they have to put me on hold to investigate how to do what I am asked to do. Then they come back and say it is not possible.
It seems interesting that there is a "rating system" for which improvements get implemented first. However, there is no published metric that will take the complaint to the next level.
You cannot use forms to collect primary addresses. Phone information. They are for payment only.
I have called the help desk several times and gotten completely different information regarding the same question—information that contradicts how to do something.
I have worked in databases for several years and, in my opinion, this system seems to be lacking. To me, the company seems to be only programmers, not real system users.

Form capability that would be useful vs. basic and so limiting that we do 80% of our forms outside RE.

I have not seen a benefit yet.

Data Intelligence

In my experience, it is the most challenging database I have ever worked with. The fact that webview does not fully translate to a database makes the system worthless to me. In my opinion, stop pushing webview when it is not fully functional and has so many errors that webview creates (such as duplicates) that you are making my job harder.

In my opinion, you can tell you are a bunch of programmers rather than users. In my experience, the online training and the knowledgebase articles are so vanilla that they are ineffective most of the time.

In my experience, the fact that you need a different import ID for every single field to import data is cumbersome. The fact that deceased and inactive individuals are defaulted to be included in the query function seems counter-intuitive to me. I can't get reports and queries tied out. In my opinion, the training materials are mediocre at best. I think Forms are not flexible enough to incorporate logos, so you can electronically send acknowledgments like other institutions.
