Overall Satisfaction with Blackbaud Raiser's Edge NXT

Alumni databaseand gift recordkeeping.
  • Easily creates simple queries
  • Data is in an easy-to-read format.
  • Updating information is relatively simple.
  • Allows creation of basic queries that can be expanded upon in RE.
  • Not every field in RE is available for searching
  • Advanced reporting is not possible in NXT
  • The same field will have a different name between NXT and RE, or the sections in NXT are not the same as the tabs in RE
  • Availability while out of the office
  • Mapping
  • Simple queries
  • Updating records without needing to be in RE
  • Has given the gift officers a much better at-a-glance look at their prospects
  • They save a significant amount of time using the Work area to keep track of wheir prospects. No need to run a query and/or a report every time they want a list of their prospects.
We are a small shop and are just starting to implement some of the analytics and tracking features on NXT. Ask me in a year.

My experience is limited with the product, but it's best use seems to me to be for quick data lookups while away from the office. The web version is easy to use, and still has some good features such as the mapping. As a researcher, I can do about 75% of my work in NXT, but the "heavy-lifting" still needs to be in RE.

It is not designed to really be the institution's database, nor do I believe it was designed that way.
