Overall Satisfaction with BlackLine
Blackline is being used within the finance department at our organization. Blackline is used mostly for the review of month end tasks and is relied upon for financial statement review controls. It provides a good way to organize and track tasks to ensure all parts of the close process are completed and reviewed.
- Previously, we were using Excel spreadsheets to keep track of tasks during month end. Blackline has provided a way to improve the review process for management by keeping all tasks in one place, building consistency, and being able to use dashboards to see the overall progress.
- The reconciliation features assists in providing analysis and documentation for all flux analysis all in 1 place. You can upload documents or link to files (such as in Box or dropbox) easily. Overall the tool is easy to use and really has helped organize our closing process
- Blackline has enabled our team to quickly compare general ledger data, investigate discrepancies, and attach supporting documentation. It has simplified our close process and gives management easy viewing access to keep track of the teams progress.
- Implementation was somewhat slow and a bit more difficult then expected. There is not much flexibility in the system so you have to adapt to it. For example, once you create a task, you cannot simply delete it. You have to create an end date for it and it will stay in the system forever.
- There are limited number of licenses based on the agreement; price for additional licenses is high.
- Great reconciliation tool. Visibility to entire balance sheet reconciliations all in one place is key for management review and audit support
- BlackLine is very user friendly. It allowed us to easily search co-workers/team members reconciliations and tasks and view their documents and attachments, as well as manager approvals.
- BlackLine is always available to help when issues arise.
We selected Blackline because it was recommended to us. Blackline has stacked up well against our expectations of the system. It is user friendly and has a good UI. This is more than a reporting or consolidation tool, BlackLine gets rid of a lot of the tedious and manual tasks performed every month and creates a easy to use review and reporting platform.
