Overall Satisfaction with BlackLine

We use it to faciliate account reconciliations, journal entry approvals and task management. Our various SAP systems automatically send account balances and journal entries to BlackLine. We can also manually import account reconciliations for our locations that are not on SAP.

Pros

  • Facilitates account reconciliation easily
  • Digitally stores data that is accessible from any computer
  • Customer support is excellent

Cons

  • Task Management is a bit clunky
  • Grouping journals (when using BlackLine as passive technology) is not really possible (i.e. when journals are initiated in SAP).
  • Full audit trail still missing
  • Creating new timeperiods must be done manually
  • Account Reconciliation
  • Journal Entry approvals

  • Centalized accounting documentation instead of storing hard copy records
  • Simplifying the audit process

For global companies with locations in various timezones/countries, having a central repository for Account reconciliations and journal approvals is vital.

I see it for an enterprise solution, small businesses may not really get the full benefit, the cost may exceed the benefits.
