Overall Satisfaction with BlackLine
We use BlackLine for tasks, journals, account reconciliations, transaction matching and soon... intercompany hub. We've been using BlackLine since 2017 and it addressed many aspects of our financial close. We have better cohesiveness, established accountability and process ownership across our organization. It also helps us implement a more secure approval workflow for our journals and improve account reconciliations with better documentation using the interconnectivity of BlackLine modules.
Pros
- Tasks are easy to implement
- Journal automation opportunities are scalable
- Addresses journal approval workflow audit trail that may be missing on some ERPs
Cons
- some settings on users can only be updated by updating static descriptions.. A more friendly interface in the user grid settings could be a good improvement.
- a way to no longer require turning on pop ups? automatically turn it on in BlackLine or like a prompt to allow them. Many of our users don't realize they have to turn it on when sending notifications to next level certifications for tasks
- improve function of mentioning other users within the task that are not included in the certification workflow
- increased productivity
- easier period management for smart close
- easier handovers for employees changing roles
Significant impact. BlackLine is an important tool for our close process . From tasks, journals, to tasks, it serves as the main tool for our end users and having a central location for all of this things make it easier for management to monitor the status of close.
I believe one of the reasons is that it is recommended by SAP.
