Overall Satisfaction with Box
Box is used throughout the organization and is an efficient way to back-up, share data, and edit documents across multiple departments. It is most useful for backing up important data and reports in the cloud. It is also useful for collaborating and streamlining workflows, but it is more intuitive and easier to use than other collaboration platforms such as Github.
- easy to install and set up
- Cross- platform. Box can be installed on Mac OS and Windows, and you can always access your files online.
- Syncing is done nearly instantaneously. All files in the Box folder have a checkmark next to them, and when they've synced, the checkmark turns blue.
- I would like to see a free option for Box
- Very large files cannot be synced unless you get a premium version. This is a bit of a drag, as I use many large, important datasets.
- When you first install Box, you have to move all the files you want to sync into the folder, which can take a lot of time.
- Easy installation
- Instantaneous cloud backup
- can access files online
- Cross-platform
- Improved efficiency in projects involving many collaborators
- increased safety of backed-up files
- Can be integrated with other online education platforms like Canvas, reducing overall software cost
I prefer Box over Dropbox. I found the online interface more intuitive and user-friendly. In addition, Box is integrated with more software than Dropbox, and it is also easier to share files of any size using Box. Finally, Box comes with slightly more enhanced security features and unlimited storage compared to Dropbox.
