Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use ChartHop for general visualizations for proof of concepts, newer ideas that are less mature in their development and also for more pitch-focused objectives that involve executive audiences. We also use this product for straightforward org chart development. The scope of our scale deals with gigabyte-level data and our audience is in the hundreds as to who sees our visualizations.

Pros and Cons

Pros

Easy chart manipulation
Good color schemas
Readable fonts that those who can't see as well can see

Cons

When org charts or other visualizations get really big, the UI gets very buggy
Sometimes the platform will randomly lag or will automatically refresh and I will lose progress
Can sometimes be difficult for new users to learn due to new features that have been added. Lots to try and learn.

Return on Investment

This relationship is not as clear
When comparing this service to others, it may simply be a matter of preference
This visualization platform is only a way to enables ideas that will increase things like ROI. I don't see it as something that impacts revenue.

Usability

For teams and people who have enough time to learn the platform or enough patience to read through documentation or to watch through tutorials, the platform is pretty usable and it is relatively easy to pick up new concepts and how to do certain things, specifically around self-service if there is some problem. With that being said, the platform can sometimes be inherently unintuitive with certain edge cases.

Alternatives Considered

Bamboo, Pingboard and Lattice

ChartHop is generally better than these products because of its usability and clarity of documentation. Our use cases can be very specific sometimes, so for example ChartHop is intuitively better for org charts and smaller organizational visualizations. There is also more support for workflow creations. There is special attention to making sure there are not too many functions and things that can confuse the user compared to the other products.

Likelihood to Recommend

It is a great product that enables new and developing orgs within a business to develop meaningful charts and workflows without requiring entire teams to learn how to build out visualizations. This is also a helpful product to brainstorm ideas, workflows and more. It is slightly less appropriate when ideas are more developed or when the complexity or scale of certain systems (that translate to more complex visualizations) increases.
