Overall Satisfaction with Cisco AnyConnect

Cisco AnyConnect is our company's choice for VPN connection to our corporate network. It is used by sales teams, remote employees, and any user who needs to access the corporate network outside of a company site. Many of our tools require access to the corporate network so having a VPN solution like Cisco AnyConnect is vital to the business.
  • Thin client
  • Easy to use
  • Reliable connection
  • User interface
  • Connection time
  • Ability to swap between local network and VPN
  • We couldn't do business without it.
  • I work remotely so I have to have AnyConnect.
  • Productivity is up because the network is available wherever an employee is.
It's a simple client and there is a lot of debugging information available if you need to pass it along to your internal IT department or directly to Cisco. Also, Cisco is a large company and has a lot of resources available through either their direct support channels or through online forums and knowledgebases.
We actually use Norton products for our virus scanner as well as firewall services but we didn't use their VPN because of the scalability and ease-of-use of AnyConnect. Cisco AnyConnect seems to be a thinner client as well, so having it run on every computer in the company doesn't take up many resources.

Do you think Cisco AnyConnect delivers good value for the price?

Yes

Are you happy with Cisco AnyConnect's feature set?

Yes

Did Cisco AnyConnect live up to sales and marketing promises?

I wasn't involved with the selection/purchase process

Did implementation of Cisco AnyConnect go as expected?

I wasn't involved with the implementation phase

Would you buy Cisco AnyConnect again?

Yes

If a colleague asked me about what VPN software to use I would 100% suggest using Cisco AnyConnect simply for the fact that our entire organization uses it and it works well. I have been told by our IT department that it is an easy tool to configure and deploy to multiple machines as well, so support would also be good. The time it takes to connect/disconnect is a little longer than I would like so if you are having to swap between networks often then I suggest you look at alternatives.

Resilience and Reliability

Things change extremely quickly in the cyber security space so that ability for a security software package to adapt quickly is key. There are always new ways of exploitation coming up and I feel confident that Cisco monitors them and even anticipates them and keeps our organization safe. We are a huge company with 100,000+ employees so there are a lot of opportunities for a hack, so we need resilient protection.
As a large company we have to have a dedicated group to research cyber security options. We also don't really have any choice but to keep computers and devices that are connected to our network locked down. That not only includes images on laptops and computers that require Cisco AnyConnect but we also have restrictions on mobile devices. As a leader you have to trust your experts and balance flexibility with restrictions for security.
It's a low footprint software that does a lot of work in the background and has caused us very little problems while doing a good job of protection. The only reason I didn't give it a 10 is because I have to manually login each time I boot up and I have some batch processes that map network drives for me and those will fail if I don't login quickly enough.
It's very easy for our IT team to implement and update as needed. We include it as part of our base image and you can set it up so that the organization login works with AnyConnect so when the user has to update their Windows password, it also updates their Cisco login.
We actually have two options for VPN connections and Cisco AnyConnect is the most reliable of all of them. Whenever someone has network problems and contacts IT one of the first things they ask is if they are using AnyConnect or not. If not they will instruct them to try AnyConnect and see if the problem persists.
It is a really low footprint software package that is also very easy for our IT department to configure and remotely support and update. They have included it in the base image that gets put on all of our laptops and computers and it automatically ties into our user login system so they user doesn't have to do any configuration other than logging in with their existing username and password.
  • VPN access during COVID when everyone worked remotely.
  • Being able to use mobile device features.
