Overall Satisfaction with Cisco Meraki MR
Cisco Meraki devices are being used to provide Wi-Fi services to multiple locations in the organization. We have a mix of devices providing coverage at our retail stores as well as in our warehouse and offices. The biggest "problem" these devices address would be cloud management. I am able to fully manage the entire wireless network from anywhere in the world where I have internet service. Also - the single pane of glass is a huge bonus as we employ gateway MX devices as well with plans to add switches and cameras down the road.
Pros
- Cloud access
- Single pane of glass
- Ease of management
Cons
- Licensing - per device vs grouped is confusing
- License pricing - I don't see a reason why this needs to be so expensive
- Enterprise vs Advanced licensing model - why not just one?
- Umbrella/endpoint should be included in the Advanced licensing model
- Security
- Always on and always stable platform
- Wi-Fi 6 in the newer devices
- Cloud based management
- Negative first - license renewals are expensive! They all renew together when grouped!
- Positive - super easy to deploy and configure
- Cloud management - a must have in today's IoT world.
Cisco Meraki is one of the most stable platforms out there. The devices just work and I have never had issues with losing connectivity. Unifi - their cloud key technology leaves a lot to be desired though they have improved lately. However - the platform is just not as mature as Meraki and I've had many issues deploying and fixing broken networks. Linksys is more of a home-based product - stable and works well in that scenario, but I wouldn't use for business.
