Overall Satisfaction with Cisco Secure Firewall
We currently have several Cisco secure firewalls deployed at the edges of your networks. Centrally managed by Cisco Secure Firewall Management Center. We use the devices to protect users, workloads and provide client and IPSEC vlan services. All devices are currently deployed in HA pairs with BGP sessions to our ISP.
Pros
- Monitoring and troubleshooting.
- Rule set management.
- Ease of IPSEC tunnel management.
Cons
- Live log buffer troubleshooting.
- Integration with VMWare NSX.
- LDAP intrgration.
- Provided a clear cost over multiple fiscal years versus the options provided to us by competitors.
- Allowed us to leverage additional integrations with other cisco tools.
- Allowed staff to manage the solution quickly, providing efficiency gains in staff time.
We found that Cisco compares very favorably to the Palo Alto firewalls, especially with their latest release in the Secure Firewall line. The performance has been phenomenal compared to the earlier Firepower models, which was one of the few advantages I felt Palo Alto still had. Another big item for us was cost. The cost to purchase and license a Cisco Secure Firewall was significantly lower than its Palo Alto counterpart.
