Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Protect the enterprise from security threats using DNS based security.
Grant access to the internet resources based on the identity of the user. We use Active Directory based identities coupled with Cisco Umbrella connector to match a user to the originating IP address.
This protects us from known malware and viruses.

Better integration with other Cisco portfolio of products.
We have an enterprise subscription and Cisco Umbrella dns was already included as part of the offering.
Also we are looking into integration with sd-wan in sites where it is hard to provide full spectrum of services that are available in bigger sites with a lot of server infrastructure.
