Overall Satisfaction with Concur Travel and Expense

We use Concur for managing and communicating travel bookings and management, alongside AMEX GBT. It addresses the business need to be able to manage and coordinate travel and also link into systems to track and keep our people safe overseas.
  • It does a reasonable job of allowing our people to book travel and access bookings.
  • We use it to share bookings with a central security team (via 3rd party software) that enables us to keep in touch with our people if there are emergencies overseas.
  • Concur offers integration with mobile/tablet apps.
  • It could be an issue with our implementation, but the integration with mobile apps is cumbersome (have to email itinaries to an email address to be uploaded).
  • It's a more efficient platform than the previous one we used.
  • Clunky integration which wastes time and risks errors.
We use AMEX GBT alongside Concur. I'm not completely sure why, but AMEX seems to do the job, but I imagine it's expensive to run.
Sadly I'm not sure we fully integrate the travel and expenses elements of this product. We use a separate expenses system and have to input manually. I'm sure that if we did there would be huge efficiency benefits from not having to manually input travel expenses!
Concur works very well as a travel tool. Where it falls down at the moment is integration with mobile apps, however, that is fixable!

SAP Concur Attributes

Do you think SAP Concur delivers good value for the price?

Not sure

Are you happy with SAP Concur's feature set?

Yes

Did SAP Concur live up to sales and marketing promises?

I wasn't involved with the selection/purchase process

Did implementation of SAP Concur go as expected?

I wasn't involved with the implementation phase

Would you buy SAP Concur again?

Yes

For me 6/10 means something like "does its job well, but is some distance from great". I find using Concur somewhat painful compared to some shining examples of usability out there (for example from a different usage cases Workday, Microsoft teams, Solidworks, Trello, hell even MS Office is a shiny example of usability by comparison).

However, that said these niggles in the frontend are somewhat overcome by the backend integration that enables us to track our people when they are travelling round the world. So if there is an emergency we know who is where.
  • Very few, but it is usable
  • it is clunky - there is a lack of "narrative arc" to the way a expense is put in or travel arranged
  • It is pretty inflexible - to the point that I need to ask our HR for help with anything none standard, rather than being an intuitive "self solve"
I can't really comment as I (thankfully) don't have to deal with the back office side of using this...
Whilst it seems to be possible to integrate the back end of this to multiple departments - the clunkiness of the UX really hampers the willingness of staff to engage
I can't really comment in detail, as I wasn't involved, however I understand anecdotally that integration was neither harder, nor easier than other solutions tried in the past.

Product Benefits

  • back end accounting is slick and "just works"
  • back end MI on where in the world people are is comforting
  • SAP ERP
  • SAP S/4HANA
Not 100% sure I've got the names right here, but in essence the back-ends talk to each other to flow expenses etc through to accounts and HR as well as some integration with our personnel security vendor.
Frankly the UI/UX is a massive chore. But i understand the backend integration is what makes this tool so powerful, saving lots of time on accounting for travel expenses
I don't really feel about to comment here as I wasn't involved in selection of the product.
Again, I'm not really involved in the deployment of Concur, so not really well placed to comment. However, I would personally wonder if there are ways to enhance the front end, which given such a strong back-end should be achievable?
