Overall Satisfaction with Conductor Searchlight

We currently are using Conductor across our organic search department, our content department and at points our social department. Usually we are using it to track organic keywords nationally and locally for our clients and use it for ideation for blog and knowledge center ideas. We utilize it in reporting for our clients about the competitive landscape as well to show how they are stacking up against their cited competitors and other high ranking sites.
  • The audience intent explorer is an invaluable tool for finding related topics and other content ideas.
  • The prebuilt reports and goals in the platform are spectacular for providing holistic view of the aggregate ratings of clients' keyword profile.
  • Workspaces allow for an easy way to build dashboards to easily get insights from the data allowed through the platform.
  • Customer support is absolutely incredible and helps within seconds of reaching out.
  • The way to perform bulk updates is a bit clunky by having to download the entire set and make manual changes in Excel.
  • Not enough functionality having to do with backlinks and unlinked mentions for brands.
  • Features like daily rankings tracking and Deepcrawl are an additional cost rather than being part of the platform.
  • Improved search rank position: using the suggestions in the platform we were able to make meaningful changes that helped improve the ranking position.
  • Easier, better reporting: with the Workspaces we have built custom dashboards that contain all the information we need to pull insights and present them to our clients.
  • Acquire more local packs: thanks to the local tracking we were able to find out what changes led to more map packs and were able to replicate success for other keywords.
The quality of the data found through Conductor is amazing. For rankings it has a wealth of information and not only where they keywords rank, but also the various features that might be on the SERP. The data about keywords ranking on clients' pages that we may not already be tracking is also incredibly helpful. I wish the daily tracking was a feature that came out standard for all users instead of being part of an extra expense. With this you can only get keyword on a weekly basis, which is plenty to do what we need to do.
We're able to easily share ideas for content ideas that we find through the audience intent explorer. It also helps us to find out those content topics that have been underserved through our current content strategies using the content mapping capabilities in the platform. Best of all, we can find out the best pieces of competitors and their top keywords through the new domain explorer functionality.
Conductor's support is by far the best I've experienced in my entire life. And I am saying that without hyperbole. Each and every time I've had an issue or question, support employees have been available in seconds over the in-platform chat function. And when something does have to be escalated the support team is always sure to follow up with me to make sure the issue is completely handled from start to finish.
Agency Analytics did not have the full fledged functionality that Conductor did. It's keyword rank tracking capabilities were decent but not anywhere near what Conductors do. It also did not have any functionality in ideating content. The similarities stand in the integrations that could be handled through both platforms. I've only briefly evaluated BrightEdge but it seems pretty similar to Conductor from what I was able to use.
Despite some of its shortcomings Conductor is an amazing platform for all parts of optimizing for organic search. It is also perfect for finding new ideas that actual web users are looking for and helping start the process of developing a content strategy. Where Conductor is less suited is true competitor comparisons. While it does do a great job in measuring your competitors rankings and market share for your keywords, it has a more difficult time drawing in other keywords they own and showing market share among the competitive landscape when factoring those kinds of keywords into the mix.

Using Conductor Searchlight

Once you get over the initial learning curve Conductor is easy to use and navigate. It is highly recommended to get one of the certifications that Conductor offers but especially Legend Certification. Workspaces help put everything you need for reporting and finding insights all in one place its only a few clicks to get there. I have to be honest and say I'm not wholly thrilled about the insight stream, while it does give good stories, they aren't often the best that we want to show clients.
