Overall Satisfaction with Conductor

We monitor our 25 brands for organic search ranking, crawl results, and other content optimization opportunities. We use it primarily in marketing, but some other sales teams get copied on some custom reports. The primary business requirement was to aid with organic traffic growth which it has.
  • Consistently accurate results.
  • Accurately report on things that people actually see (local/mobile results).
  • Standardize rank reporting.
  • Paid search integration with Google Ads needs to incorporate more actionable results.
  • Some odd specifics dealing with Google local pack and paid results in the local pack.
  • One brand rose to a 270% year over year increase in organic sessions for the month.
  • One brand was able to quickly isolate and identify the negative impact of a Google update that we later recovered from and now show a 20% year over year increase in organic sessions.
  • We used the content segment setup and recommendations to help expand content writing efforts.
We use Google Analytics, Deep Crawl, Google Search Console, and YouTube. Google Analytics is best for reality-checking the total organic clicks received from searches including and outside the ones we monitor. This also helps to determine other key areas we need to expand on. Deep Crawl helps analyze the site as a whole to aid in finding key areas to fix from a technical SEO standpoint. Google Search Console provides impression data that is far more accurate than what's used in Google Ads. Youtube provides insights into how well your video content does.
We're all on one team, but the reporting is generally the best utility for sharing and collaborating between groups.
One of the smaller features Conductor has is the True Rank vs. Standard Rank. With the True Rank, you can see the combined set of results and where you rank. But on top of that, Conductor shows what specific types of results you're getting for each search phrase. So we were able to look at where we rank for answer boxes and further analyze the content opportunities that we do not rank for. We then pivoted our content strategy to cater to not just the top search terms, but how to answer as many questions as possible for any given topic. The results have been a large part of our current success.
We're in constant communication with the Conductor team for regular meetings as well as anything else that arises. Periodically, we get a new support team representative and have had some inconsistencies.
Semrush -- I still use this suite, though not for the info I get from Conductor. I don't see their ranking data as being as accurate, but they do show other key data points and 3rd party traffic stats. BrightEdge -- the platform is most comparable with Conductor, but have the most annoying sales and support staff that I have encountered in this industry. Searchmetrics -- they have a low cost alternative, but accuracy and precision are lacking.

Do you think Conductor delivers good value for the price?

Yes

Are you happy with Conductor's feature set?

Yes

Did Conductor live up to sales and marketing promises?

Yes

Did implementation of Conductor go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy Conductor again?

Yes

Over the years, I've been consistently well served by the Conductor team and products. One key thing that sets them apart is the level of service. Google constantly changes, and when something goes wrong, they're quick to resolve the issue. When it comes to the software, getting accurate information is the most important part of making an informed decision.

Using Conductor

7 - SEO, Content Writing, and Data Analysis are the main uses of the Conductor data and platform. From the SEO standpoint, we look at how our brands rank and in which ways and places. The Content Team uses a number of the other utilities that Conductor provides to help expand what they need to write about. And the Data Analysts pull the at from the Conductor API to our BigQuery instance to merge the data into our other reports and analysis.
3 - The base set up and maintenance of the searched terms is the more difficult part. For that, our SEO team handles each brand largely the same way as previous brands with any locality nuances added in. Otherwise, outside of the Conductor set up, the Data team handles the data migration into BigQuery and any changes along the way.
  • Monitor Local Brand Presence
  • Monitor Organic Performance in Universal Results
  • Merge Data into Other Platform Data Sets
  • Aid the Content Writing Efforts
  • Monitoring how much exposure we get in Google's answers sections of the SERPs
  • Monitoring the local impact for each market we represent
  • Expanding on the User Journey and what steps people take to research their problems
  • Brand recognition measurement
  • Competitor monitoring
We've had consistent results with the Conductor platform.

Evaluating Conductor and Competitors

  • Product Features
  • Prior Experience with the Product
The product support team has been good to work with in terms of improving the Conductor platform and addressing any oddities or errors that may creep up over time. When compared to other services like BrightEdge, the people at Conductor are easier to work with.
Running sample tests and looking at real results of the product when compared to other products and self-derived data would help to showcase the accuracy of each product.
