Overall Satisfaction with DigitalPersona

[It's being used for] Positive ID verification in a hospital [by the] whole organization. It's required by Ohio board of pharmacy.
  • Met the board requirements at the time of implementation.
  • Financially more attractive than the competitor.
  • Company was responsive during the initial implementation.
  • We upgraded our clinical software and changed our hosting environment, upgraded to a new version and DigitalPersona did not work anymore.
  • Crossmatch did not seem to initially understand our issues and state board requirements. Nor did they understand the need for its compatibility when integrating into Citrix and remote host.
  • We were in a time crunch and we had trouble reaching the right Crossmatch people to resolve the problem.
  • Positive: We are a small hospital and even small IT costs can be a burden. DigitalPersona was a great fit when we started with our electronic medical record because it was more cost effective than the other integrated vendor.
  • Positive: the DigitalPersona team was very responsive during the initial setup 4 years ago. Got us where we needed to be.
  • Negative: this clinical software upgrade has been a nightmare. We are currently on paper because the SSO does not meet board requirements. DigitalPersona is finally helping but we think to do a Citrix environment our cost/user will now be much higher. We may have to acquire licenses for all users rather than just the clinical users who need to have positive ID due to board requirements.
  • Negative: DigitalPersona and McKesson should have worked together better to make sure these systems would work in the new McKesson Paragon software version and in a host remote (Citrix environment). They were not ready. We could lose millions in revenue if we can't get this fixed due to not meeting meaningful use standards.
Imprivata is integrated with McKesson Paragon. This makes it work better with their software but it is very expensive. DigitalPersona eventually became integrated with Paragon but was not ready for this upgrade and host remote environment.
Medication Management within Paragon
Well suited: Retail, non Citrix environment, others where using Active Directory is not an issue, a place that realizes you should not clean the readers with alcohol

Less appropriate: Hospital pharmacy, hospital with specific board requirements, Citrix environment, a place where user might use alcohol to clean the reader
