Overall Satisfaction with Dovetail

I use Dovetail to organize user research projects, upload interviews, tag data, and communicate insights. I also direct my coworkers to Dovetail's search in order to answer user research questions.

Pros

  • Project organization
  • Tagging Data
  • Creating Insights

Cons

  • The AI search needs to be improved
  • Tying insights to product changes to show impact
  • Help UXRs report on the impact of their work
  • Improved decision making
  • Prioritize roadmap items
  • Better understanding of customers
Automated transcription is fantastic. AI highlights misses many opportunities and isnt very useful. The summaries tied to an interview are fairly good. AI search doesnt filter out enough and the summaries dont cite enough data to back up the claims.
Yes, it has improved engagement of user research. It has made insights digestible by pointing out key quotes. It allows stakeholders to see the reasoning behind the choice of research methods. It can also track research participants and why we chose them.
The only reason I rated it less than a nine is because the navigation between different rounds of research within the same project is quite difficult.

Do you think Dovetail delivers good value for the price?

Yes

Are you happy with Dovetail's feature set?

Yes

Did Dovetail live up to sales and marketing promises?

Yes

Did implementation of Dovetail go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy Dovetail again?

Yes

It is great for dedicated UXRs who have a use case for utilizing global tags across multiple projects. Teammates who conduct research in seemingly separate projects are probably better off using less dedicated research tools. It is not great for quantitative data analysis but is very good for interviews and usability testing
