Overall Satisfaction with Dovetail

We use Dovetail as our research repository for UX Research, including storing our Customer Interviews or Usability Test Data. Besides storing the data, it is very easy to unpack and analyse our interviews, highlighting and tagging themes and patterns we find in our research projects. We also use the tool to share main insights with stakeholders and as an important aid in our presentations.

  • Waste less resources as we get to focus our development capabilities on most important requirements
  • Improved decision making by provider relevant insights to stakeholders
At the moment I think Dovetails AI capabilities are pretty new and will need some polishing. At the moment the way it summarizes data is OK, but I usually export data and use on my organizations approved AI tool.
Dovetail does help provide team members with insights to make evidence based decisions, fosters good communication between teams and creative problem solving. It is definately a tool that is used across teams and helps us work better together.
I think Dovetail is one of the better platforms out there in terms of usability but there is still some area for improvement when it comes to usability and discoverability.
Some things like tags should be more clearle visible in projects.
We chose Dovetail because it was more powerful and simple to use when we evaluated these tools.

Dovetail is great to store research and analyze information directly on the platform. It is especially good for customer interviews where you can upload a video, get a script and work to unpack the interview and insights.
Some scenarios where it is less appropriate is for usability tests or surveys, where the platform does not natively manage those types of data and inputs nor provides additional analysis tools. Another area where there could be some improvement is integrations with other research and usability testing tools.
