Overall Satisfaction with Dropbox
We regularly use Dropbox to send files between employees and are frequently editing the contents of the folder. It solves the problem of needing to get larger-sized files from one member of our team to another. We also use another file transfer service, but Dropbox is one of the cleaner and more streamlined services we've encountered over the years. I can't imagine not using it.
- Alerts users of new files transferred.
- Alerts users when contents of folders have been changed.
- Allows for large files to be stored and transferred safely within the company.
- Great for sending files to clients as well.
- Sometimes it can be tricky to figure out how to select one or all of the files in a given folder to download (especially if they've made updates/changes to the interface), but it doesn't take too long to relearn it.
- There are limits to how many files you can store based on the free / paid plans of the service. Most needs can probably be met with the free plan though.
- It gets frustrating having to clean out your files regularly to make space for new ones, depending on your plan size.
- Easier method for transfer of media with clients.
- Easier method for transfer of media within the company.
We also regularly use TransferBigFiles, which is a great service for sending really large files back and forth between employees, or for hosting large downloads for our users. I prefer TransferBigFiles over Dropbox for those methods, but Dropbox is more professional, trusted, and has way more options and features than TransferBigFiles.
